Chair for gaming/office work? Budget up to $500

Hi guys,

Looking to upgrade from crappy officeworks chair that I've been holding on to for way too long. Leaning towards the Secretlabs series but they're up to $500 and I can't find that many real world long term experiences online. Keen to hear about fellow ozbargainer experiences.

Current contender: Omega Titan Tempo (on special for $499)

Other chairs I've looked at so far:

Corsair Road Warrior (currently can be had for 20% off in ebay sales working out to $455)
DX racer FL57 (also on ebay for 20% off at $288)

Those chairs may look good but may not be the most comfortable or durable long-term. If the markus is comfortable for you it's worth the investment (noting 10 year warranty) - just be careful because it's not especially adjustable, and if it's not comfortable now you're going to hate it.

    • Actually i didnt mind this one when I tried it a while ago - totally forgot about it!

I got a AKRacing K7012 ($250 on special / $300 normal price) which I find very comfortable. It's made of a cloth material so it's breathable but is less stain resistant.

My only recommendations would be to stay away from fake leather, it fractures and peels after a few years and my second tip would be to see if you can try whatever you are buying. It'll be your chair that you spend a lot of time in and you're the only one who knows what will be a good fit for you.

Have the same. Not a gamer just use it for the home office. I've taken the armrests off of mine.

Happy with it for the few mths I have had it.

Same sentiment regarding the PU leather.

I have an aeron and I actually find it quite uncomfortable. The mesh is extremely firm, and while you tend to forget about it after a while, you can feel it. I had an Ikea volmar once but I see that they have discontinued that.

      • damn thats my main concern about these mesh type ones - my friends in corporate swear by these though:(

It doesn’t have the boy racer look like the ones you’ve posted, but I recently bought two of these and would recommend them. Heaps of adjustment, and very very comfortable. Most of the places I found online were expensive for shipping, but I got my local Harvey Norman to give a similar price.

You should stay away from PU leather. Can I suggest a mesh chair like the Ergohuman V2.

  • Buro Metro ?

    • did consider this as well - its kind of like the ergo human v 3 and kogan has a mesh type like it too….

Acer Predator Thronos or a chair from the kitchen

  • I'm in a similar situation and I'm struggling to decide.

I was pretty close to buying a Secretlab. The comments and reviews on Facebook were all extremely positive. Then I found the reviews on https://www.productreview.com.au/p/secretlab-omega.html and they are terrible!

There is scant info on Gaming Chairs online so it's pretty hard to decide.

    • Thanks mate, back to the drawing board it is.

      • Hi Jimmy,

I'm wondering if you've decided on a chair.
I'm in the same boat now and was wondering what you've decided on.

I'm leaning more to comfort and ergonomics now but initially was set on the Secretlabs Titan until i tested it, honestly I wasn't impressed with the build quality, in particular the arm rests. The seat itself was quite comfortable but I only tried it for a minute.

  • Look into the X-Rocker range mate, awesome chairs !!! They sell out as fast as they can get containers in so you will likely have to pre-order but the 2.1 or 4.1 Pedestal with built-in rumbler for <$500 will hit the spot !!!!
