Not as cheap as the recent HN deal

    Pricing error again? 😏

  • The website is very closed to HN. Is that trustworthy?

    • +2

      HN owns Joyce Mayne.

    • Haha yeah same people/person

      • +1

        Can't be!

Why do I never hear any complaining :)

  • Are they brand new or refurbished units, as they have been out for almost 4 yrs now.

    • +1

Could be clearance stock they couldn't move at their ridiculous RRP.

  • Good price

    • I have the older model and it's been great all these years. Almost tempted to get these, but then the original unit is portable enough that I can just move it between rooms when I need it.

      • I have the X5 and X55.

X5 while on battery reduces its output where X55 keeps the top output power.

For this price, it’s worth upgrade if you don’t keep your X5 plugged in at all times.

        • To be honest I haven't noticed any issues with the X5 in this regard. I just crank the volume up a little more.

The battery has been pretty good and generally not an issue either. There's a powerpoint readily available everywhere in the house anyway.

  • Can you control this via an app or remotely turn it on/off?

    • No app. You have to manually turn it off or you will have to charge it after 10 hours of on and even no sound. :)

The sound is pretty good on this one.

      • What if if I leave it plugged in on ac power.. can you have the Bluetooth on permanently?

  • A friend of mine bought the rectangular one at full price a few years ago. I can't wait to see his reaction when I tell him how much I am paying for this one.

A cheaper option is the discontinued Soniq at $25 plus delivery ($10) - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/flea-market/flea-market-retro-blue…

    • +1

You can't really compare Sony and Soniq though; a fairer comparison would be Sony and JBL for example.

  • How is the sound quality on these?

  • +1

Highly doubt there is any / enough stock to fulfill orders.

    • Called it.

  • Great price but I shall abstain from handing my money over to Gerry Harvey. Probably a pricing error anyway. Good luck!

  • A great deal. Ordered for my daughters birthday. Thank you :-)

  • i thought this deal looked familiar

  • For those who ordered, did you receive the invoice already? I haven't received mine it's been half an hour already I'm worried I missed out. I tried making a mock order and it won't let me put it in the cart anymore.

  • I contacted them way back in January about this bundle - it's been out of stock since then. But here's hoping you guys are somehow super lucky! :)

Have an SX55 bought years ago and it was OK. Nothing impressive. Don't expect any good sound quality from the small one though, but for $99, it's still a good deal.

I respectfully disagree. I have had many bluetooth speakers over the years (and have an audiophile set up for my home theatre) and it has overall the most balanced and clear sound I have heard from a speaker of this type. Yes the bass is prominent but well-contained and doesn't intrude in the the lower-mids.

Because it's so balanced, all music styles sound great on it, unlike many of the newer models (including Sony's own) that are designed specifically for EDM and R'n'B.

I also suggest that you listen to some lossless or hi-res tracks using a compatible device. I didn't think I'd be able to hear the difference with a speaker this size, but I most certainly did. I also had the X77 and I actually I preferred the more coherent and engaging sound of the X55 in a much smaller package.

This is the closest I've ever heard a small bluetooth speaker come to reproducing the audiophile sound. If you are pairing it with an iPhone and only using the AAC codec, it should still sound very good but you're limiting it's potential.

  • Ordered this when I saw the post yesterday, and got a confirmation email almost immediately, but no invoice or anything as of yet.

Edit; My paypal was also deducted immediately too.

    • Awww. Well I guess it means I get to keep my money. I only got an Order Confirmation Number on their website which didn't even get sent on my provided e-mail address.

    • Got an email at 14:25 today saying my payment will be refunded. Worth a shot anyway.

    • I know this post has been long expired but did you get refunded too? Only asking as I received an invoice on Friday then nothing else.

      • Oh wait. You already said you got refunded. Sorry my bad.

        • It's still sitting at 'pending' in my PayPal, but PayPal is good and if it's sitting at pending it's just a matter of waiting for it to go through. If you used a credit card, you can try a charge back I guess.

  • No invoice and payment was immediately processed. I contacted them to confirm order and they said they were out of stock and processing refund.
Not impressed, but you can't win them all.

    • Damn. Missed out too then.

      • Apparently, an email has been sent 5 to 10 mins ago.

In hindsight I was surprised the SRS-X55 showed up. I'd not been able to find one for a while. It was one of my choices for home bluetooth speaker (ended up going for a Bose Soundlink Mini on another OZB deal). Today's deal was ideal for daughter's birthday. Oh well, I'll keep looking…

    • They've had no stock since January, yet they keep the listing active on their website…

  • +1

Just got mine refunded. Not surprised given the past Harvey Norman deal. Was worth a shot…

    • me too……

60 plus votes and no stock.

  • I completed purchase when the deal was at approx. 50 clicks.
Just received the refund email. I think they had zero stock.

  • I appreciate the post. Tried to buy, there was never any stock. Getting refund. No apology from JM. Negging to summarize story.

    • +1

Why are you negging something that you were too late to? That is inappropriate negging. I've received a confirmation email of my order from last night considering this deal was already 18 hours in by the time you posted.

      • can understand abacus's frustration when there's in fact zero stock to begin with. i got the confirmation email as well yet still received a refund without an explanation.

      • +2

I bought a couple of hours after it was posted. Thanks to op for posting, not his fault there was never any stock. Simple mistake as I said. Negging to save someone having to read the whole thread in the future ie they can read my summary of what happened.

  • +1

    In the refund email:

We would like to thank you for your business and look forward to future transactions with you.

    Yeah, (profanity) off.

    • You should buy something else
      Do a chargeback
      And

      Send

"we would like to thank you for your busienss and look fwd to future transactions with you"

      • Still waiting for my Paypal refund to go into my account.

        • Did you get refunded already? I am now making a dispute through PayPal as those incompetent people didn't bother cancelling and refunding my order like how they did it to others. I have contacted them last week about it but they aren't even responding. Blacklist these morons.

          • @savemesomemoney: I got mine but it takes a ridiculous amount of time. This mob processed the refund quickly but PayPal's system is (profanity) absurd. It takes days for any communication from PayPal and the email you eventually receive tells you that you "have cash" but then you have to wait even longer until it turns up in your account.

I hope you can get your situation sorted. If this Joyce whatever place isn't responding just go through PayPal. You might be waiting a week or two… or three, but you likely will get your refund.
