I want to learn how to polish cars and I'm looking for a polisher suitable for a newbie. Would this one from Supercheap be good to start of with?
There's another one from Autobarn, is it a rebadge of the Supercheap one does anyone know? They look almost identical!

Tempting, but is it really worth $160 more? I guess with the number of pads included and the compounds as well. Pretty much everything I'd need is there right?
Yep pretty much. Really depends on what level of detailing you're trying to do.
I bought the SCA polisher + $26 5" backing plate. Cutting/polishing pads are $10 each depending on how many you want. You really only need orange/white pads. Then you can go for Meguiar's Ultimate Polish which is $35 at SCA. You can wait for a 20% off sale. They also have Meguiar's Ultimate Compound for $20 which is a steal at that price. The compound is more aggressive than the polish.

Go for the SCA one. It's at a great price. I bought it a few months ago as I detailed my car for the first time. It's a great dual action polisher for someone who's only going to do it once or twice a year. No complaints. Nothing else competes at this price point. Make sure you look for good polishing pads afterwards. The 7" plates are too big imo. I went for 5" plates and used a 5.5" foam pad. The colour of the foam pad matters too in terms of how aggressive it's going to polish.
