Car Streaming Music Gadget? MMI? (Audi 2009 Only Handles Calls Not Music)

Hi there,

We have a 2009 Audi car that will take phone calls over Bluetooth but won’t sync with mobile for music streaming. (Apparently all older Audi’s weren’t set up with this)

I’ve been researching online and found a “BlueStream 3GEN Bluetooth A2DP adapter” that connects via MMI but can’t find any reviews.

Has anyone else got an older Audi that they’ve bought a gadget for to enable music streaming?
I’d love to be able to control it via the steering wheel too.

Thanks for any advice!

  • Good question. My 2012 Ford Fiesta had Bluetooth connectivity, my 2013 Audi Q3 doesn't! I use the 3.5mm input.

Switch to having a bunch of music on a usb drive?

  • Provided you have an AUX in for the car sound system, something like this should be perfect for your needs:

I have one, works perfectly. Needs to be charged every few hours of use (micro USB) but you can charge it while you're using it. I can't tell the difference in sound quality between using this, and using a 3.5mm cable, presumably because of the APTX protocol it uses rather than the older A2DP protocol.

I used to own A4 2011, if you want to keep the original dashboard as is the easiest way for you is to use mmc card, that way you can control it by steering wheel, it's fast and no downgrade in sound quality.

Exact same issue in my crappy Polo.. I bought this and it works perfectly. Just keep it always plugged into the car charger and my phone always automatically connects when I turn engine on. Sound quality is great, zero dropouts.

I bought from Banggood or Gearbest and got a better price than the link, but as always takes about 300 weeks to be delivered.

This is assuming you don’t have usb or auxiliary.

Or could you change your head unit?

  • What model Audi is it? Is it CAN or MOST?

I got one of these for the MOST system (Fibre Optic).

I got mine from an Oz ebay seller. Works great, USB, Bluetooth music streaming, phone calls etc. Uses all factory buttons on steering wheel and MMI, took 5 minutes to install.
