  • Great bargain. Wish I was there!

  • biggest car is lancer? too many restrictions… however, indeed it's cheap

    • +1

It;s Just that they have too many cars at Brisi airport and want to move it interstate without paying the Freight…So you drive it there….It's a Win Win situation for everyone.

      • -1

        Not Really! coz..

Car Rental - $10 per day but you will keep it atleast for 2 days = $20

        Petrol Cost - 2 tanks = $90 (assuming a 45Lt tank)
(It take 1.5 tanks from Brisbane to Sydney but since u return it with full tank thats why I calculated 2 tanks)

Plus extra insurance coz you dont want to take the chance of driving interstate without excess reduction coz without it u pay $1360 excess.

        Total Spend - $100+ approx

I think One Way Flight is Cheaper!

        • +7

Yeah but if you are a bunch of backpackers…

        • +2

Yeah true! Good deal for a bunch of backpackers!! Agreed with greenpossum!

        • +1

as already said…. for 1 person not worth it. but for a family or group, pretty damn cheap!

  • -3

    Does it include petrol ???

    • .. asks a true bargain-hunter.

    • +1

      Normally 1 full tank.

      • +2

Yeah but you have to return it full too, so you pay for your use.

      • +2

well, since it's all down hill from Brisbane to Melbourne, maybe one tank will be enough ?

        • haha! yes!! Half tank should be more than enough!!

        • rofl. downhill from Brisbane to Melbourne. hehe

  • +1

This sounds nothing more than re-locating.

    • +1

      yeah, it's a "win-win"…

      smart thinking thrifty…

    • +1

Those who doesn't know about (kinda) free re-locating program. Google for it like "standbyrelocations" Some vehicles includes $$$ free fuel as well.

      • Bargain!!! standbyrelocations

  • Great price. Good for backpackers heading south. Do NRMA members get their usual discount? (NRMA owns Thrifty.)

  • +1

Good for people who want to visit friends/relatives/places along the way that are not near airports. It takes around 20 hours non stop, so you have 6 full days to play with. Otherwise probably cheaper to fly.

  • +1

Yeah, maybe cheaper to fly, but good luck getting the plane to stop anywhere you want as you take your time and visit a crap load of places on the way to Melbourne over the 6 days or so. Hah, hah.

  • Big pos from me :D

  • this is a good deal, however i had rented from thrifty before and they charge u like crazy with admin fees for infringement fees, beware of that

    • or you could just not get any infringements :).

  • Great deal going to send it to a friend of mine.

  • They are getting a free driver :)

  • Maybe since the floods and cyclone Yasi Thrifty trying to get all their rental cars back to the southern states using drivers who will pay them $9.95 a day?
