gee great story mate … righteo …

  • lol …

Always their discretion. They obviously have a lower price they have to work with, if the price you've given is too low they obviously will reject it.

Sometimes it is up to them if they want to beat it. Eg. go to good guys who might give you a good price. Bing lee may or may not beat/match it depending on how they feel

  • they just quoted a price and would not go lower.

    • Maybe you're no good at negotiating, or he thought you were a joke.

  • Interestingly, my experience with Bing Lee is that you get a better deal negotiating over the phone than in store. Then get their name and walk into the store and purchase. I suspect it is the thinking that once you have taken the effort of getting to the store, you are committed and you will buy anyway.

The same works for tyres as well. I'va always got better deals on the phone than walk into a Bob Jane / Kmart and try to negotiate. Or maybe, I'm not that good a negotiator in person!

    • Good idea.

What if you carry a competitors catalogue into their store? Might give them the impression that youre just there to see if they would match/beat your said price, provided that you dont make up a silly unbelievable price like $2.

  • I find that with Bing Lee, you need to (at least pretend) you've done your homework, and know what you want. Otherwise they are so not negotiable…

And with most places doing price match now…..you can always head straight for the exit :)
