Why Do I Always Have to Load OzBargain Twice to Get up to Get The Deals up to Date?

Is it a sinister way to double the clicks? It happens on all devices, all browsers.

I assure you it is unique to you..

  • It happens to me too. If I open ozbargain from my favourites tab it will open and then if I click on deals immediately then a few more newer deals will pop up.

Gyahahaha i remember that saga. The company that turned Whirlpool admins into censorship Nazis

  • Sorry, not sure I follow. Are you saying the new deals page only loads when you refresh it twice? or are you entering on some other page (e.g. the front page)?

The front page has highlighted and popular deals, the new deals page has the most recently posted deals.

You can change the criteria for what appears on these pages from your settings, for example the minimum number of positive votes.
From the top bar, go to My Account>Edit>Deals and there's a slider you can set to zero so the site will have all deals on the main page.

    • I'll try that.

Is your browser forcing a cached version on first load? When you click, it'll retrieve latest?

cache-control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate - your browser could be ignoring this on first load.

    Just tick 'new posts'….

  • It happens on all devices, all browsers.

Pretty sure that's a caching issue with either your DNS or your settings. Basically, it's trying to save data by showing you the last snapshot of the site that you accessed, and only when you manually refresh does it twig that you want the site as it is that very second.
