Giving out Stan Password

I have a stan account and rarely use it. So i gave the password to my niece, then my sister, then my other sister. (i dont know if they gave it to anyone else) And its been over a year now and everyone uses my account all the time with no problems. Is this a thing that stan or netflix lets people do and are ok with it? A friend asked if she should get netflix or stan and i told her netflix. But i was just thinking… I could give her my stan password anyway? Whats the downside for me in doing this? I hear a lot of people getting upset online about people using their netflix or stan accounts and i always think… So?

As far as I know, only a certain amount of streams can be played at once (I think either 2 or 4 depending on which pack you pay for), so if you have too many people using it, you, yourself won't be able to. The thing online about people getting upset is more about people bumming accounts, for example you give your password to someone your going out with, then that person becomes your ex and they still use your account even though they don't help pay for it.

Other then that don't think its an issue as long as you trust that these people won't just change your password on you.

  • Our Netflix is limited to two screens and is shared with my in laws. On the very rare occasion I try to use it when my husband and in laws are already watching things, it won’t let me on as well. That’s really the only issue we have with sharing the account.

  • Yeah, depending on your type of subscription it could stop it from working if you all log in at the same time.
    Basic: 1 at a time.
    Standard: 3 at a time.
    Premium: 4 at a time.

Netflix has different plans that limit the number of 'screens' that Netflix can be used on at the same time.

There is nothing the terms and conditions that prevents you from giving your password out to as many people as you like. The problem is, if you have a "HD" (2 screen) plan that means once 2 people are watching it, a third person is locked out.

I don't think Netflix minds, because eventually people will get sick of hitting the limit so they'll get their own subscription.

One thing you need to be careful of is that anybody with your password could change the plan. They could change from Standard to Premium and you'll be charged the extra amount.

Also, Stan has a habit of keeping your credit card details forever. If you decide to de-activate your account, make sure you change your password. Because if somebody knows your password as soon as they log in, your account will be reactivated and you will be charged.

  • I have the 4 screen plan and share with my parents, no issue. However if I shared it with a friend, who's constantly on it and it blocks me off, I would get pretty annoyed lol. Also if other people use your profile, the show list changes and suddenly your list is literally all Asian dramas (thanks mum!)

you can create up to 5 profiles on Netflix so create your mum her own account which i too eventually learnt to do

      • Yea I did, but I dunno why her and my bro use my profile sometimes, maybe instinctively click on the first one.
