When the mini Nintendo was released I followed the advice on here. Bought a raspberrypi and controllers, spent few hours setting up retropi and loading it with every ROM i could get my hands on. I have every NES, SNES and mega drive game loaded, and a few Playstation 1 and N64 games. In the past year I think I've turned it on twice. Still use my PS4 and Switch a fair bit. I think I prefer the idea of playing old video game over actually playing old video games.

I 100% did the same, even set connectivity for Bluetooth controllers but ended up probably playing it twice ;/

Did the same with my PS VITA when I finally set it up with Home-brew & all the emulators.

I'm actually the opposite. I have the Pi along side my other consoles and play it regularly. In fact I find playing the classics with a few mates over and some beers really brings the fun out of it.

I tend to use my GPD XD+ a lot more though. Feels like using the ol' Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo DS.

Are you me haha? I own most current and 7th gen consoles along with a 3DS and Vita and have hacked all of them with Retroarch and complete rom sets. Yet I just play switch or PC :(

  • Oh Wow!

Well this was bound to happen.

    Bring on the RRP bargains!

Gawd darn, have a mandatory meeting tomorrow at exactly 9am AEST, tempting to need a sick day haha.

    • Gamesmen and JB pre orders are live now.

  • Love it that they've gone for the original Playstation and not the PS1 with the streamline design and thumbsticks. I really hope they have a classic like Gex. I loved that game.

I don't have enough time to play contemporary games let alone older titles!

Just release the games on PSN… I don't understand this other than "Nintendo did it"

    • They're releasing them on PSN. I think it's more a response to the consumer acceptance than the simple fact Nintendo did it. Nintendo do lots of stupid things.
It's standard for Sony to match the competitor's best features and ideas.

What is this, a console for ants!!?!

Time Crisis and Point Blank for life!

No Tony Hawk? That was my most played game on the Playstation!

  • I'm loving these retro re-releases but its a bummer that Sony didn't include the DualShock Analog Controllers for the hefty price. Those digital pads were awful.

Biggest problem with this unit is that it doesn't really offer anything over the PlayStation 3. The PS3 is backwards compatible with PS1 games, and even some PS2 games if you jailbreak it. A used PS3 would be cheaper than this…

    • It's just a nice Collectible. No need to quantify worth as a console, but as a cool, functional center piece.

    • Come to think of it….they might sell the anolog rumble as optional accessories.

      • Well, the controller ports are just plain USB, so if you have a ps3/4 controller handy, you could just do that to save.

  • I thought no one wanted to play these games? Isn't that their reason for not allowing people to play old games on the ps4
