  • Refuse to buy from these Jackholes

    • Officeworks will pricebeat allphones

      • But because its ebay with promo code. Wouuld they still? Am very curious

        • -1

Haven't tried, I just know that Allphones is a company they price beat to.
Also with the recent change at Officeworks I think it is arguably easier https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/399699?page=3
I have in the past gone into officeworks and pricebeat an item that uses an ebay code and is from a seller with a front store.

        • @mr chow: thank you. i am looking to try to price beat a cheaper note 9 (128gb) if possible, so your info helps.

        • @mr chow: why do people always forget the exlusion clause. Things like clearance item, stock availabilty, coupons/vouchers, non identitical are clearly excluded from price match. When they can’t get the price matched, they go online and rant about it.

Try or no try, it’s simply excluded. If you managed to do it, then you dealt with a dumb employee.

        • @No ONE: no harm in trying if you are willing buddy. Don't do it if you know you can't.
Also, this phone isn't a clearance item.

        • @mr chow: I said it in more general term rather than this specific deal. Yes, try doesn’t hurt, but one shouldn’t be disappointed if OW deny price match.

      • Lol no they won't. Called most of the officeworks in the QLD CBD vicinity.

Right, it's not like Australia records every piece of metadata that all citizen produce and keeps it for two years which is a human right violation.

Or that a bill is currently up for debate in parliament right now to outlaw encryption unless it has a backdoor for intelligence agencies making it illegal for Europeans to do business with Australian businesses because of human right violations that the GDPR is meant to stop.

Yup, keep sleeping, Australia isn't a police state.

      • +4

        Finally something that makes sense.

        • +2

Encryption with backdoors defeats the purpose of the encryption. The backdoor will be abused by those entities that have access to it.

        • -1

          lol this guy serious?

        • @cumova:
          Nah.

        • @whooah1979:
I know, mate. Some people don't get the satire.

        • @kahn: you clearly have a bad taste in satire. You’re like one of the Chandler Bing’s student who suck at sarcasm.

        • @No ONE:
Hmmm, I dunno, dude. I thought it was pretty good.

then we will be overrun by terrorists

The use of the term "overrun" is used by politicians who are anti-immigration, like Pauline Hanson who described Britain as being "overrun with immigrants and refugees".

          and bad hombres

An obvious reference to Donald Trump's characterisation of Mexicans.

          voting for the Lib/Labs

This pokes fun at Diji1's frequent comments about how our misfortunes are a result of voting for the Liberal and Labor parties.

Judging by your reference to the show Friends, perhaps you struggled to find the humour without a laughter track?

      • +1

Eh, it's not so black and white. That whole metadata thing allowing the government backdoor access could fit under preventing threats to public safety which is exempt from GDPR.

    • The mss doesn’t care about ozb.

    why everyone is hating allphone?

The prices after discount are quite decent.

    • +1

I went to buy a phone a couple of days ago with the ebay plus deal.

Refreshed the page and it went up $60

Sent a message about it and they never replied

I too giving them a miss

      • +1

in the past 4 weeks we have seen our curreny fluctuate 8% against the US and things from china are costed against $us , so sometimes batches will vary in price …..yes we do see price jacking some some suppliers when ebay have their 20% deals , but i needed to buy an aquarium filter part ….mondayt it was $15, end of the week it was $15.99 and that was without ebay deals.

also some places heavily discount new shipment for cash flow and then sell remaining at higher margins until next batch arrives.

    • I brought a s9+ from them via eBay and they used Fastway to deliver. The delivery guy goes walkies with the parcel and updates their record as delivered. Took weeks to resolve with eBay to get a refund and they make it sound like u r trying to scam them.

    • Agree. Who cares if they price jack. Most online retailers do it. At the end of the day can I buy the phone at the cheapest price out there? Does it have warranty? Do I get a GST invoice? Are they reliable? As a consumer this is my main concern. After I receive the phone I don't sit around thinking omg can't believe I supprted allphonez!!111!!!! At the end of the day I got the phone at the best price possible.

      • Who cares if they price jack. Most online retailers do it.

Right most. So you want them all to price jack instead?

How about they are all subject to competing on a level playing field. Offering the best price without resorting to these underhanded tactics. Its not like this applies to some. Matter of fact it can apply to all.

Who wants a 20 to 25% off items priced above rrp? Which ends up really just being just 2 to 3% off.

When 5% off what an item has been selling for will do.

        • But the thing is, its not RRP let alone 20 - 25% above RRP. Allphones price jack and they STILL have the best price. So as a consumer who cares? If they advertised the P20 at $400 and next minute they jacked to $500 would you still care or would you buy 50 phones and sell em on ebay at $800 a pop? Just because they price jack doesn't mean its not cheap

        • @bobolo: if their final selling price is that good why do they have to resort to underhanded tactics by pricing the item above RRP then offer 20% off?

Why not sell at 5% off. Lowest price ever.

I know why. Because not everyone jacking price above RRP then offering a percentage off is selling at the lowest price.

They want make it sound like you are getting a big discount when really they are not. I am fine if all they can offer is 5% off. At least the % off is a genuine % off not some faux % off.

        • @xoom:

We are talking about allphones….not everyone else. There is a reason why they are repeatedly featured in Ozbargain deals and most of them receive a significant amount of interest/upvotes. That reason is because the deals are CHEAP compared to what anyone else is selling - price jack or not.

        • @bobolo: but you were the one that brought up that most online retailers price jack so its only fair my comments mention them too in my reply.

If online retailers can offer the cheapest price without resorting to underhanded tactics. Why don't they just do it?

I know why because some want to confuse consumers so that there will be times were they are giving fake % off and still be more expensive than other retailers.

Do you’ve evidence to support this claim?

      • pretty sure laptops from china had stuff on them that was leaking info no? lenovo was it?

        • +1

Lenovo had an Ad software that collects data. It has been deleted many years ago.

        • @coolbbb888: not deleted, it is still there.

Lenovo used a feature meant for driver install to save it on the motherboard. It would silently reinstall itself even if deleted by the user.

          Now it can be uninstalled

        • @Superannuation:

          Now it can be uninstalled

Windows is not iOS that once it gets installed, it can’t be uninstalled/removed.

        • @No ONE: which is why how they did it is so ingenious, they went beneath the OS

        It's true

ever since I got this phone I keep seeing little chinese people hiding in my garden and peeking in my windows

    • +12

If the Chinese government wants to know that I have no friends, receive regular spam calls, read OzBargain on work time and browse imgur, then they must not have better things to do.

    • Don't really give a shit. And since I am not planning to overthrow their govt or destabilize their territories so they won't give a shit about me too.

      • +1

        couldn't agree more.

        • -2

sure. that is until they fully overtake australia and bye bye basic rights..

        • @tchi6: Could you please explain how that can happen? I am interested to learn more.

    Great phone, absolutely love it

  • +4

Can vouch for this phone, camera is phenomenonal! Phone has been amazing, easy to use, reliable, fast, battery last two days, easy better than any sumsung flagship I've ever had

  • Got a P20 Lite from Allphone, great phone and value for $$

  • Sure is a brilliant phone!
But it's been a long time since I've spent over $300 on a smart phone.
This unit would be my exception to that rule.

  • +1

This phone is amazing. It's speedy, best battery life available I think still? regardless it's solid, Be mindful if you are gaming exclusively the gpu and cpu is behind the S9 and more in between a S7/8. For me phones have been plenty fast enough a long time ago though.

Notch hasn't bothered me, and the ui hasn't got in my way. Also I'm not used to how often the updates are! It's been nice. Huawei have come a long way from the P10.

    • +1

My most recent two updates have both just related to pubg optimisation :/

  • +1

Solid and still current best camera phone. It's just that I prefer stock Android and Google's post processing on photos so I went with the Pixel 2.

If only Huawei make Android One phones. I meant they made Nexus previously, no?

    • I think Pixel 2 photo is actually more natural, just by reading the review. Not own any of them yet. Was tempted by the p20 pro but haven't pulled the trigger :(

  • kogan has dropped the price to $999 + Delivery (free shipping with member of shipster) with BONUS Smart View Flip Cover (10% off code HUAWEI10)

    final price is $900.30

if you want to get a case, kogan is still better in price.

  • This phone is amazing.

The main Camera is absolutely amazing. Night shots don't get any better than that in any Mobile-Camera setup at the moment. Tho Selfie camera is bit of let down when it comes to group shots. It focuses on the person at the front and make others look out-of-focus. I have tried changing the mode from Portrait to Photo. It is still bad.

Battery is pretty good too. I only use 50% with 2 1/2 hours of screen-on-time.

It is fast for pretty much any task. I don't play games tho.

I got 2 security updates since I bought this phone about 2 months ago

I use Nova Prime so it feels more like stock.

I installed the Google Phone app to replace the Huawei App (I like the simplicity of Google app)

All in all, I love this phone.

By the way I bought it from JB even though it was cheaper at All(jacking)Phones

    • There is a way to disable Bokeh on the Selfie camera as well…

      • Yes you can but still people behind you look out-of-focus. This is a known issue with front facing camera. Not the best phone for Selfies.

  • +1

OzBargain community will never forget the price jacking done by this seller.

    • +3

45+ Vote says they do. OzBargain has zero loyalty.

    • I think most OzBargainers would assess each deal on its merits.

  • These guys are the same as Mobileciti

  • Only draw back it doesn't do OIS on video recording 1080p or above? Also Huawei updates and skin is horrendous

  • mehh….I'd buy the S9+ for an extra $200

  • DO NOT EVER buy a from these snakes! I learnt the hard way when Australia Post had stated they "delivered my item" but didn't and whoever they delivered it to did not even sign for me. I had to explain to Allphones the whole situation and their care factor was below 0 and it wasn't until I pushed them to do things and constantly call them they acted upon it. However when I complained about their customer service I treated with the upmost disrespect when an Allphones representative said "We really don't have to do anything you know since Aus Post is claiming its delivered" long story short do not ever buy from this company, they will take your money and not give a f#&* about you!!!!
