How Do I Change a Hose for a BBQ? (BBQ Noob)

So
I have been given a Weber that came with just a pipe but no regulator.

I already had a gas bottle with a regulator and pipe. Expecting it to just swap over

It doesn't

I've tried to unscrew the pipe from the regulator. It doesn't it just rounds the bolt. I've tried with a pole but it just slips

I'm either doing something really wrong or there's another way I can replace them?

I've attached a video for demonstration

The first pipe (black) needs to come off and the second (grey) needs to go on

I'm way out of my depth can anyone help?

    Two words….

    Reverse thread

    • I've tried. It's super stuck either way.
The bolt is super weak and keeps rounding once it's off will the other just fit in?

      • Adjustable spanners are shit. You want a normal spanner. A brake line spanner ideal for things like this but I'm not sure if they come in such large sizes

  • Got it undone using the adjustable as right as possible and using a pipe to leverage

Now the bbq won't light. Got it going with a lighter but gas seems to only come out of the left side and none from the holes where the gas comes in.
Maybe it's just time to get a new one

Maybe this is why you were given it. Someone just handballed it to make it someone else's problem.

It might just be a matter of lifting the grill plate off, giving the gas element a good wipe down, and if necessary clear out all the little holes with a pin/needle, or even a very small drill bit. Or else Weber replacement parts are readily available.

  • Needs one of these too

I'm 100% getting one of these, almost set my balcony on fire trying to get this working.

  • If it's not working properly and you don't know how to fix it either get someone who does to fix or get another unless you think your life is only worth a couple of hundred a malfunctioning gas BBQ is basically a bomb waiting to explode

  • It is now fixed. the pipe had a slight split and set on fire was crazy. Luckily I switched the gas off immediately.
The ignitor had corroded so much I took it apart and cleaned it.

Now the bbq works perfectly. But I probably almost got blown up.
