Recommendations for Budget Tablet In-Store

Hi there guys
Im after a decent budget tablet just for watching movies on the plane and reading books on holiday. I am after one that I can get in store as we are heading off in a week. Late notice as just decided to not take my laptop like I usually do, was thinking of getting the Lenovo Tab 4 for $98 from HN. Ideally was after one that I can have high capacity SD card for movies or be able to load direct from external hard drive.
Any advice would be great
Cheers

Lenovo Tab 4's start at $179 at HN.

Doubt you will get a tablet at sub $100 that will suit your needs unless you get lucky second hand.

Maybe look into getting a Amazon Fire tablet that you can sideload stuff on.

    • ah bugger i was looking at american prices. What is sideload???

Look for a used tablet. Tab s, z4 etc

Lenovo's TAB7 Essential is sub a good $100 tablet. I've used it for trips to USA and japan on the plane. It's a little quite when watching movies, but not like I couldn't hear. Also good for reading comic books. Expandable memory too

    • Ah yes thats the one I saw for 97 at office works and thought it was the Tab 4. Im going to go to office works today to have a look into the differences but will probably look for a slightly used tablet if I think i may need slightly higher spec to be happy

      • its runs everything smoothly, but it's never getting Oreo and the screen is fairly crappy compared to ipad and other higher priced screens. But it 100% gets the job done and can fit into your back pocket.

  • Awesome thanks for the info, I will have a look at the Samsung Tab s then and the Xperia. Can find hardly used Lenovos Tab 4s for around $100 so was thinking about grabbing one of those. For looking the used Samsungs would the tab S be the best one to aim for? I Am not familiar with them and when I looked up the Tab s its a 2014 tablet, if they are known for being reliable and durable that would be fine but was after something without a whole lot of kilometres on it
    Cheers

Thanks for all the recommendations, for anyone in the same boat it cam down to buying new = Lenovo Tab 4 or buying used and didnt want to go too old and there are more samsungs and ipads than anything else on the second hand market so my picks came down to finding a cheap Tab A 10.1 or stretching for the S2. I was about to buy an S2 for $250 which would be much better for someone who would use the Tab more than I will be. Went for a $110 Tab A 10.1 which I am very happy with
