Cheapest way would be to "find" one. Don't be discouraged if it's attached to someones wrist, you'll just have to be more persuasive.

Set up a Gumtree alert and wait for someone with buyers remorse willing to sell it at a loss. That's how I got my FitBit.

Looks like all price-points are the same at the moment - some still “coming soon”. So utilise Amex Promos or Discounted Gift Cards would be the cheapest way for now.
To be patient.
Buy Gift Cards when on promo like Harvey Norman or Myer 20% (Amex).
Buy 30-60 days prior to overseas trip for GST claim back via TRS.
One thing I found when I bought my series 3 was that unless you wanted a popular band you have to buy at Apple. Something to keep in mind
