The PI-W6's any good as ceiling mounted rears?

  • Hi rep, doing some entry level research in to home cinema plans. Trying to get my head around all the options, and the price ranges!
Is there any reason why the Vardus 300 HCP 7.1 would not work with a Sony STRDN1080? Why is this set on such a big price reduction?

I was checking a previous post by one of your colleagues for Pioneer FS-52 (pair) for $348 (now $398) .. Had thought of buying 2x pairs, plus would then have some additional components to buy to get it up to 7.1, possibly with the Atmos upgrades as well.

Would appreciate any advice or suggestions you might have from your experience, thanks!

    • Don't see any reason the Vardus 300 speakers wouldn't work with your Sony AVR, they're both 6ohm.

      Should sound pretty good!

      • Ditto

        • ok thanks for the replies ..
how come the big price reduction on this kit?

        • That's nothing unusual on HiFi stuff. Could be the last of a batch, end of line, not selling well.

  • Can you confirm the Wharfedale PI-W6 $99 price is for a pair? Was the previous $800 price for real or BS?

    • for a pair

    • 14th March 2015 @ 02:09:19 - $749
      16th May 2018 @ 03:14:16 - $720

    • looks like they are cheap because they were last manufactured in 2009.

  • Hi rep

if i get any in-wall sub woofer from your website, will it work with Yamaha Yas107 ?
or it has to be Yamaha sub woofer?

    • +2

I dare say any In wall sub you'll find that is active (it has its own amplifier built in) will likely be many times more than your soundbar cost to begin with.

    • +1

Any subwoofer will work with YAS107, as long as the subwoofer is "powered" e.g. has its own amp and connects via a single RCA.
Non-powered subwoofers are usually weak and will not work with YAS107.

  • What are the inwall speakers like

  • Any cabinet ideas for the PI-W6 units? I don't want to use them as in-wall speakers. I couldn't pass up the bargain!
