[Switch] Super Mario Party - $29 When You Trade in 2 Games @ EB Games

90

Same deal as put on for the launch of Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.

Games must be from XBox One, PS4 or Switch (which is fair enough when the minimum trade value has to be $10)
Hopefully we will get some good trade bait suggestions in the thread.

RRP is $79.95, so with the right trade bait may be able to get as low as $49 (or less if you already own the games.)

Release date is October 5.

Game is shaping up well, back to the old style with a board and no group car, plus some minimal online components.

Conditions from the bottom:
EB Trade policy applies. Eligible trades require minimum standard trade value of $10. Must be in resalable condition.
Not to be combined with any other offers. Strictly while stocks last. Limited time only. See staff for details.

  • Not quite the same deal as DK as I believe that was a $5 trade value and included 3DS Games etc.

    • That is true.

    • I traded in 2 psv games towards DK.

Be good to know what sort of ps4 games i can trade, have plenty of ones which wouldnt be to there 10$ trade in

    • I have someone nearby selling a bunch of games for $15 each but have no idea what the trade in value at EB would be.

      • +2

Problem is that this game will likely be $69 elsewhere so don't pay too much for tradebait.

        • Whenever I've done these trades at my local, they do the trade, then match the lower price elsewhere as well

          • @Thefong: They can't with this deal due to the nature of the deal. My point is though don't overpay on trade bait as the game will be $69 elsewhere.

            • @[Deactivated]: People from the Donkey Kong deal did get it to work though. (i didn't ask even though i should of)

I think its best if you do your trade in before release. All they do is add the full $79.95 pay off your trade. So when you head in to pick up, they can't really tell you did the trade in or just used cash, so a price match still might work.

List from the last post for Donkey Kong. The increase to $10 minimum might kill the deal really.

The new $10 limit is brutal. I took a list to EB yesterday and was told the following fall below the limit: watch dogs 2, uncharted 4, outlast trinity, last of us remastered, ghost recon wildlands, far cry primal, dishonoured 2, COD black ops 3, rise of the tomb raider, COD advanced warfare, mass effect andromeda, fallout 4, GoW ultimate, battlefield 1&4, COD infinite warfare, fifa 18, doom, prey & halo master chief. EB said almost all the above would have made the old $5 limit.

Some that met the new limit included COD ghosts ($14), COD WW2 ($16), far cry 5 ($19), gta5 ($14), horizon zero dawn ($20), metro redux ($14), uncharted lost legacy ($11) and wolfenstein 2 ($13).

    • Thanks for the ones that will work. I think this probably means unless you already own the game already and don't want them any more, the deal is a bit of a bust.

Could have bought a few wolfenstein 2 copies when EB had them for $10 and be OK.

    • Umm…I went to EB with cod ghosts Xbox one, it's $8…

He looks like a ps4 user going by his list of games. I would assume your answer lies there.

        • There is a mix of Ps4 and Xb1 games in my list but yes, Ghosts was Ps4. It's $38 (pre-owned) on the Ps4 and $22 (pre-owned) on the Xb1. That explains the difference in trade in value.

        Any EB level?

  • Is switch game generally worth more trade value than the PS4 and Xbox one? Like example Kirby, 1-2 switch etc?

    • +1

      Yes

  • bit bummed, i only have two games (one of them is still sealed and unopened) that id like to trade, one thats worth 20 and another thats 6. was told each game had to be over 10.

  • Trouble is finding a game that's worth >$10 trade-in but less than $20. Every dollar above $10 trade-in just eats into the value of the deal. And presumably this is pre-EB World bonus %, so that would also chip away at the savings.

The DK deal was awesome though - I had 2 games worth $11 trade-in combined, so effectively a new game for $40. :-)

  • EB Games trading is never worth it. You are way better off posting ads on Gumtree/Facebook Market place and selling them, then using that money to buy your next game.

    • +2

They were before they caught on and increased it to $10, they were accepting older system games like PS3/Wii games before and whatever junk that was above $5

  • So I have a couple of games without the switch box because my son JUST KEEPS HIDING THINGS EVERYWHERE! Do they still accept just cartridges ?

    • Don't trade in switch games on this deal, switch games (Nintendo games in general) hold their value as Nintendo doesn't drop price on its games (breath of the wild is still at launch price, apart from the far and few in between sales by random vendors)….
You're better off trading in PS4 or Xbox One games.

      • Oh i got shitty games only with their switch cart and no boxes. even if i did lets say? Its like 1,2 switch and overcooked 2 and low priced games like that haha definitely not zelda or mario games. Too good of a game :)

        • +1

oh okay fair enough… even then I think they should still hold value, brand new overcooked: switch $50 xbox $30 (some of this is due to higher price of cartridges)
and ebgames does not care about case, all they need is the game and functioning!
but do try to shop around (at jb hifi or cex).
Also check with staff if the games + membership bonus has higher value than this deal (Y).

          Good luck

  • Is this deal still on?
