Best plan/provider for Apple iPhone for approx $85/month

My current plan is about to expire in early November and I'm looking to get a new iPhone - either iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, or the new iPhones just released. I am looking for at least 256gb and 10gb of days per month. My workplace reimburses me $85/month providing I have invoice from phone provider each month. What is the best way to make the most of my allowance from work without being out of my pocket too much to get a new iPhone with my above requirements? IPhone 8 Plus would probably be the cheapest but I can't seem to find stock of 256gb variant in any of the stores, seems like they only have 64gb left and won't be back ordering anymore

Why do you need that much onboard storage? You can always dump large files onto something like this, or use the cloud. That way you solve the stock availability issue and more likely get a plan within budget.

    • Lots of photos and videos of my kids that I like having access to

      • Why don't you use Google Photos to backup all your pictures and videos and then delete the ones on your phone?

  • Do you have a preference for which network you would like to be on? Telstra, Optus, Vodafone? Optus is normally cheaper than Telstra and as an example to get the iPhone 8 with them (256gb) with 20gb of data they are charging $87 per month ($10 less a month to lease the phone instead of owning it). iPhones are expensive! The models you mentioned will all likely cost more than this.

    • No particular preference
IPhone 8 doesn't have portrait mode and I want a better camera for photos with my kids mainly. Happy to spend over the $85, just wanted to see what the closest to it is

If you have until November, you might be able to wait until October 26 when the iPhone XR ships

    • Do you think the plans will be cheaper then?

  • Not for $85. You're looking at $100+ easy for the new models, more if you want a more storage, the bigger model, or decent data. iPhone 8 and X are being discontinued. Wait until XR, but I doubt you'll find anything for $85 unless it's a lease plan.

    • That's fine, not looking for under $85, just as close to as possible

  • Have you tried checking the websites of all three providers? It's pretty easy.

    • yes but all seem expensive or no stock of the iPhone 8 plus 256gb. trying to see if there's other options i haven't considered.
