Trace Phone numbers? (+61 448 008 003)

Seeing how IP addresses are easily traced back to the point of origins(or you can go to direct to various (other) registrars and look through them…), is there a (preferably free) website that will do this but for landlines and or mobile phone numbers that anyone uses that's decent?

I'm trying to confirm this number here: +61 448 008 003 if anyone cares or would do the leg work for me, since googling and going through what appears to be only 5 pages, even though it says 7 pages are available(apparently are omitted), that number doesn't seem to give any leads to who number this belongs to….except the fact that it's in Australia, mobile type and with Telstra and that it's supposedly from post office(what post office?? AusPost or some other??)

Sure, knowing telcom and approx country location is nice, but I wanna know a bit more…like the full(Or preferred) name of the person, approx suburb (don't really need to know which street number, house address, occupation, and or other personal details although I guess that would help for completion sake), post code or and company details is enough for me…

Thanks!

It’s rather easy for scammers to fake caller ID details. That number looks fake. Unless it’s missing the leading 0?

Have you tried putting the mobile number in Facebook search?

    • On my phone, it reads +61 448 008 003 and yes it appears without a leading zero….

      I haven't because I don't use facebook…

The +61 replaces the 0 as an internationally recognizable phone number.

0 defaults to the area local area code, which for Australia, it's +61

        • Oh I see, thanks. I guess I forgot to add the +61 in my thread post, will fix now….

So when you call or text someone it doesn't matter if you omit the leading zero or the +61 or does it…?

@Zachary: You either put +61 or 0. If you're calling from overseas, you need to put +61 to get to Australia. If you use 0 when you're in NZ or elsewhere, you may be calling someone else.

Using 0 just means use local default.

    Most responses say AusPost/Star Track.

    • Ah beautiful thanks; according to https://auspost.com.au/text-your-choice it is indeed genuine, although it doesn't explain why the leading zero is omitted….

Q: Why is this a different number to the one I usually get Australia Post text messages from?
A: All text messages for the Text Your Choice service will come from the number 0448 008 003. You may receive delivery status updates from a different number prefaced AUSPOST, which is a non-reply message.

Q: Is this message a scam?
A: No, it’s not a scam. This is a new service we’re offering our customers for you to select how you would like your parcel delivered on the day of delivery.

Looking at the FAQ, it appears to be counter-intuitive:

      Q: What happens if I don’t reply?
A: Your parcel will be delivered by the driver using the normal delivery process.

Q: I replied ‘3’ to have my parcel taken to a Post Office. When will my parcel be there and which Post Office should I collect it from?
A: The driver will always come to your home first to deliver your parcel. This is our normal process. If you are not there, and have selected this option, the driver will leave a delivery card in your letterbox to tell you when and where you can collect your parcel.

Q: I replied to the message to send it to the Post Office, however, my parcel was delivered to me at home. Why did this happen?
A: The driver will always come to your home first to deliver your parcel. This is our normal process. If you are not there, and have selected this option, the driver will leave a delivery card in your letterbox to tell you when and where you can collect your parcel.<br>

Q: I selected ‘1’ for the driver to leave the parcel in a safe place at my address. The parcel was not left and I received a card that the parcel was taken to a post office. Why did this happen?
A: Where suitable, the driver will leave your parcel in a safe place at your address. If the delivery driver makes an assessment it is not safe to do so, they will leave a card to advise where you can collect your parcel from. We understand this may be inconvenient but following process is important to protect the safe delivery of your parcel.</p>

Q: I asked for the parcel to be placed in a specific location but it wasn’t. Why?
A: Where suitable, the driver will leave your parcel in a safe place at your address and will make an assessment on a safe location for the parcel. Please see our Terms and Conditions for further information.

May as well not reply at all and save your credit, if they're not willing to follow directions and use the generic procedure regardless what choice you make….hah…

Leading zero is always omitted when the country code (+61 in this case) is added. Completely normal

Oh, I've gotten texts from this number. It's a legit Aus post number - does the message ask you to reply 1 2 or 3 for delivery options? Replied, and parcel delivered per the selected choice.

    • yeah…

  • You can Google mobile numbers. Just quote your search text to limit it to that pattern eg. "0448 008 003"

    • ah yes, forgot phone numbers can have spaces in them…..

Oh in actual fact, I just checked my past recent texts and have this same number. It's AusPost, example…

  • Watch out, you don't know whats in the parcel. might be a mystery box from the dark web.

  • FOR ANYONE WHO RECENTLY RECEIVE CALL FROM THIS NUMBER (0448 008 003):

    It’s a SCAM!

I’m sure it’s a SCAM call, the customer rep has an accent might from India(no offense). He says he is from Australia Post and there are parcels on hold at international airport contains illegal oral medicine. His aim is let you know this is a very serious issue and let you record all the info like case number, address etc. and then let you repeat what he told you. Then transferred your number to Putong Shanghai police office.

This scam is design especially for Chinese people. The trick thing here is they are using English-speaker to contact Chinese people, and they faked the phone number as the Australia Post official number which is used for sending tracking info. It’s a new telecom scam please be AWARE anyone especially Chinese people who receive this call.
