  • Genuine bargain vs dental maintainance cost.

  • Jesus… what does this thing blend? For $599 I'm expecting a LOT!

    • They're one of the best blenders around that normally retail around the $1K mark. You can get a Kogan knockoff for $89 from all review i've seen they perform exactly the same without the hefty price tag.

      • Until they fail or get recalled. However, if you aren’t so concerned about the environmental impact of going through a few blenders then the price is cheap enough. I bought a vitamix after I went through a number of Breville blenders.

Please note this is the older style Vitamix. The new Ascent ones can auto detect the individual serve cup, etc.

        • There isn't much compelling reason why to invest in a $700 blender, when a knock-off $150 blender with all the attachments and accessories does exactly the same job.

Now if it does the same JOB as the real vitamix I will just go and buy a real authentic vitamix considering it would do the job better (the older models).

I'm on the fence really because word of mouth is Vitamix is the best, but I've never used one and never seen one in person to evaluate it. So its the cheap knockoff for me.

          • @doodo477: This is a $600 blender 😁

I’ve just had bad experiences with low end appliances that have high mechanical rotation. They work for a while then they jam and fail or the “gearing” strips. I have a magimix food processor that is roughly 10 years old and works like new and now my Vitamix. I would try the low end machine first and see how you like it, than trade up later if you find you don’t like it. I’ve already been around that loop but the current group of low end machines might be better.

The beauty of Costco is you can return an appliance within 30 days if you find it’s not for you.

            • @try2bhelpful: I agree, I'm from Darwin and the turn around time from shipment to returns is somewhere from 3 weeks to 3 months. Also shipping cost's and time away from work is more of a factor for me.

I've purchased a Kogan cold press juicer (https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/cold-press-slow-juicer-fruit-ve…) and even though it was suppose to be throw away device it is still going strong after daily use for 3+ years.

Look forward to getting the knock-off, in 3 weeks to see how well it makes peanut butter. Considering I don't eat peanut butter, I'm using it currently as a benchmark for blenders.

              • @doodo477: I use peanut butter to make satay sauce. Darwin would be a bugger for delivery. Will be interested to see what you think of the knockoff. The biggest thing I’ve found is if everything comes out smooth or you get lumps or visible seeds.

                • @try2bhelpful: Agree! Will post back here when it arrives, will send you a pm and upload a youtube video of it working. Over-all I guess I will throw money at it if it doesn't stick I'm out $150 AUD (Free Shipping) and will fork out the remainder for the real thing.

Though normally it takes 2-3 weeks before it arrives so will pm you when it comes in. Here is item if you're curious.

and Here is the video if it up against the vita-mix.

Now, how it turns out :D it could catch fire and burn down the house and the family and I would need to live with the dog in the dog house. So hopefully it doesn't come to that.

                  Chad
