Cast Foxtel Go to TV with built in Chromecast

I have a samsung tv which I believe has the Chromecast feature built into it.

When I'm in the YouTube app on my phone i Can press the cast icon in the top right corner of the screen, doing so lists the tv and I can instantly cast the video onto the TV.

when I play a video on Foxtel Go no cast icon appears.

Oppening the Google home app (pixel 2) and pressing cast screen / audio and then searching for a compatible device the TV does not come up.

Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed?

Thanks in advanced

  • there is no cast icon, so as to require people to get multiroom as far i know.

  • probably a built in feature from foxtel to stop you doing what you are trying to do.
some people on sell these logins to subsidize the high cost of foxtel

  • Does your tv has youtube app? I found that youtube casting works with its own app even without Chromecast capabilities in Xbox one

  • I used to do this by screen mirroring with a Samsung phone and TV. AFAIK the Foxtel Go app can't be cast to Chromecast.
Even using the mirroring was hit and miss, sometimes had to do it half a dozen times to get it to register and work on the TV.

  • Only get proper chromecasting (including cast icon in phone app) if you have Foxtel multiroom (two or more set top boxes at your house).

  • Not exactly built-in Chromecast feature, it’s simply pairing your Youtube phone app and the TV Youtube app. Nothing else can be casted.
What’s your Samsung TV model number? The manual would tell you what’s possible.
Might even be compatible with Samsung Smart View where you can control your TV from your phone (not just as a remote).

  • Open Foxtel on watch.foxtel.com.au on a Chrome tab on your computer, then cast the tab to your TV

  • You can buy a Foxtel go box

  • Update everyone, I picked up an old original Chromecast and it works perfectly now.

Am able to cast the Foxtel Go directly onto the TV. Both live tv and on demand streaming.
