Cashrewards and Apple Computers

I did an update on my iMac last night. It came up with a box that said something along the lines of 'Cashrewards Notifier been closed (deactivated) as it uses to much power (not the right word sorry) while using Safari. I decided just to ignore it thinking I could just reload it. But when I tried to reload the extension from the Cashrewards site it takes me to an Apple page that tells me it is installed. I can't find it anywhere and the icon is definitely not showing when in the toolbar I search using google.

Does anyone know how I can get the notifier back? I am not a computer whiz but have a good basic knowledge. I tried searching to see if I could see how to retrieve the notifier but to no avail.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers
Ann

Go into the Safari extensions settings and try turning it off and on again?

Not sure about Cashrewards Notifier, but in the last update some extensions were turned off, notably adblockers but were still there but not showing in the toolbar. Try Safari > Preferences > Extensions and retick the extension.

Hi Ann. The recent upgrade by Apple to Safari has caused an issue with the Cashrewards Extension/Notifier. The error you're seeing is this. We submitted an updated version (v2.0.2) over a week ago to resolve this, but as yet Apple has not released it to the public. Hopefully this will happen shortly. Further, please note that Safari Cross Site-Tracking in this new version will kill cookies and tracking. Ensure you turn this off when accessing Cashrewards or sales will not track. We're urgently looking at ways to make Safari users aware. Thank you.

    • Question please in regards to the Cross Site Tracking - Should I turn this off ONLY when I am using Cashrewards or can I leave it off all the time? I just want to make sure I am reading your advise correctly.
      Thanks!!!

Hi again Ann. Ideally the preference is to leave this off permanently, that way you won't forget. Please note this applies to mobile Safari as well.

        • Thanks again, I will leave it off permanently.

  • Thank you all for your help. Will keep looking to hope the answer is resolved!!!

  • Thanks again! I was looking at extensions from System Preferences and could not find anything related to Cash Rewards. This morning I re-read your advises and realised I needed to access the preferences from Safari instead. I found what I needed and this has solved me problem.

    Cheers

    Ann

  • Clicking it off then clicking on again seems to work on my Mac
