Doorbell with Video/Sound I Can Answer on My Mobile or PC

So I am usually on one of my devices if not cooking, showering or ozbargaining.. would love a solution where I can have a doorbell that has video conferencing and audio two way with alerts on my mobile and pc.. aka multiple devices

So far only heard of RING but looking for any other answers.. does not need to be state of the art just do its job of being able to notify me while gaming/sleeping/etc on my pc and mobile (pop up) and possibly two way audio or even video call.

I don't have any mains near the front door so will need to be powered someway else of some sort.

Bonus points if I can setup one also in the backdoor but main is for the front door surveillance so I don't miss a delivery or important visit.

Anyone have a similar setup or looked around what is available these days?

Main thing would be a pop up on the PC even maybe for motion or something.

Night vision would be awesome also maybe.

why don't you just go up to the door and open it?

Are you crazy? That would mean moving the body and averting ones gaze from the devices … never heard of such a wacko idea.

Mainly for if I am on the toilet or shower or listening on headphones on the pc.. notifications are priceless in this day and age.

Just trying to find a solution that works with my lifestyle.

Hate missing deliveries or people at the door. Pain for both parties.

Also delivery times for coles and woolworths are not always exactly on time.. nothing like getting up to stare at your door for 30 minutes because the delivery window is large and random.

Efficiency, multi tasking and optimization my friend is the key to a great working society (not always but it is nice).

edit: also I am one of those crazy ocd people with like an extension for everything so I get notified about anything that happens on the internet or in my house haha lol.. thank god for notifications

  • Will a swann system do it?

I use an Arlo camera at my front door. The pro version has ability for two way audio and will pick up people as they approach the door. App works pretty well on the phone. The web portal works well, but I don’t know if it will send notifications or if the web portal supports live audio. I carry my phone/iPad with me, so if I am near the PC, I guess I could just open it and look.

  • I'd either get the RING door bell or the Nest one is meant to be good as well.

I think they'll both send a text to your phone so you just need a way of getting that to your PC. Come to think of it you can probably get an email alert as well so just have a dedicated email with push alerts on your pc.

Maybe the nest one as their CCTV cameras are meant to be good and having everything all together in one system might be easier.

  • I recommend these: way cheaper and cheerful…and works.
But the batteries you need are 2 x 18650 Lithiums which do require investment.

Important information for pairing the chime:
"Code: Long press volume key for 5 seconds until you hear "ding" sound and the reciever led light flashing at the same time, press the doorbell push button for 3 times within 8 seconds and code successfully.
reset: long press the chime forward key for 5 seconds until you hear "ding" sound and the reciever led light flashing at the same time."

You've been watching either Mythbusters, Conan the Destroyer or Enter the Dragon.

Here's me answering the door: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HitAtndOsWw

      • Ha! I'd definitely go for the Enter the Dragon scene with the Freddy Krueger claw.

  • Doorbird is another brand. Pricey but integrates with the surveillance cameras that you surely have as well. ;)

  • I bought one off these from eBay yesterday for $74

we shall see how it is when she comes

    • can to share the link?
      did you buy the chime?

they said the chime will be coming soon, so I shall buy it when it comes on the market; I will use my mobile in the meantime

      • has your doorbell arrived yet? Looking for thoughts on the product before pulling the trigger. I need a wireless doorbell as cant have a wired unit by my front door and the Ring Doorbell 2 is crazy expensive plus I hate that one has to pay for recorded footage whereas the Digoo has 8gb flash storage in it already

        • the post office said they got it on the 5th (Friday)
it will take how ever long it takes to come from China
I think I read it will be here on the 25th (of November)
take a punt & get one
did you read their website in my original post?
It looks like an OK company

  • Guess what?
    the door bell arrived today
The first thing I noticed when un-packing was the weight of the unit
It is not a cheap unit going by the weight
The unit will take hours to charge, but I had a play with it briefly
There was an update to the firmwarte after I installed the firmware
I don't know why people gave it a bad review on its google play page, it seems fine to me
The camera is clear, the sound has a 2 sec lag, like it stated
I connected it to the router no worries; I had it beside it thou
I then placed it on my outside door to see if it will connect to the router
It connected easily; my LG washing machine which is inside, still hasn't connected yet
Actually, it sets the alarm off in my mobile, you don't need an interior door bell as your mobile will let you know when the door bell has been pressed
As I said, the battery takes yonks to charge, so I have not placed it permanently outside yet
But I see it as a grouse product with my limited time with it
more to follow in a few days time, maybe ;)

    • Hi, how do you find the unit after nearly 6 months use? Is the battery life as good as 180 days?

  • It kept dropping the signal
Had to try & connect to the unit
to get it working each time
It got to be a PIA
So I took it off the back door
& I have it in a draw awaiting a future
    firmware update
I am not holding my breath

    • Thanks. I have Digoo HOSA alarm which works quite well so was considering Digoo doorbell. With so many negative feedback and from your experience, I'll just give it a miss.

      • good call; find something that works
