Card with no overseas access fee and no commission on currency exchange

Hi all,

I read about a credit card that is really good for travel and doesn't charge access/commissions overseas. Can someone remind me what card that was. Off the top of my head it might've been a card issued by wizard.

Thanks.

Used to be called Wizard Advantage. Same provider, new branding.

    • Thanks mate, I think that's the one.

  • what's the catch?

do you need some prior business with Bouris?

    • No catch. But these no fee cards have high interest rates if you fail to pay on time. So don't do that and profit.

If you are going to take money out of an ATM, put some money into the account first, because ATM withdrawals are counted as cash advances. If the account is in credit, you are using your own money so no interest is charged.

  • No catch, I use this card for all my OS transactions and give the finger to the PayPal exchange rate :)

  • +1 for 28degree - I like the old name Wizard better, 28 sounds so wanky.

I'm using it solely for payment while travel overseas. It has the PayPass feature as well but never use it.

  • trufax// ihave one right now…

  • +1, great card. I use it for all of my OS internet transactions as no currency conversion fee is charged.

  • Just dont be late with your repayments…. this card is backed by GE MOney… notorious for being very quick on the trigger when it comes to fees and charges. $25 if monthly payment is late, even if only by a day.

Keep the limit low and pay off card every month. If you use it right, you can save money on international transactions… but if you dont it'll cost you more.

    Be alert to fraud
Further to Carol Hyde's letter (Traveller, August 6), exercise caution when loading a positive balance on a 28 Degrees credit card, or any other credit card. I used the card recently (on my own laptop at home, so no security issue my end) to make online bookings for a Paris apartment stay and an easyJet flight.
Within 48 hours the card had been hacked and the remaining positive balance and credit limit was used. Alerted by 28 Degrees, I now have to wait three to four weeks while the fraudulent charges are investigated. My money is in limbo until then.
A new card will be issued but if I want to use it I have to deposit funds to effect the credit limit, and then more if I want to take it into positive balance again.
Another concern is that 28 Degrees's insurance covers the credit-limit amount but not any positive balance. My advice is to load only the positive balance sufficient for your short-term needs. Credit-card fraud is becoming commonplace.
