Foodpon Rebrands Food Morning after Notice from Scoopon

Received this email today …

Hi ,

Just as we were so excited about the launch, we were very disappointed to receive a letter from Scoopon's lawyer threatening us of a lawsuit due to trademark breach, and requested us to cease using the Foodpon name immediately… Anyway, after consulting with our lawyers, we have decided to rebrand Foodpon to Food Morning! However, this means we'll have to postpone our official launch! We are working around the clock to have this sorted out ASAP, so stay tuned!

Thank you again for supporting Food Morning. Our new website is at www.foodmorning.com.au. We will announce the winners to the $10 Cash Coupon campaign as soon as we have this drama sorted. Hope to see you as one of our lucky winners.

    I've always thought that the spin offs' with "-pon" suffix are quite silly!
    So glad you've changed a name!

    When you type 'Foodpon' into Google, you get an interesting first listing. Probably a good idea to change their name!

    I wonder if this is the reason Zoupon changed their name to deals.com.au. Looking over the list of sites, I don't see any others ending in pon.

    The site say's they're coming to Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth soon … but then they all say that!

    Hi guys, sorry for the slow response, we are new on the forum so still have the 5-posts-a-day restriction in place, so had to wait for a day when this gets reset. Anyway, yes, we have just launched in Sydney last Friday after the re-branding delay. We are liking our new name and getting good feedback from members so I think it's better for us moving forward anyway. But as you can imagine, we were quite disappointed when we received the letter from Scoopon, just 3 days before launch, so had to work around the clock to re-do all logos, online Ad creatives, marketing materials etc etc, not to mention the pain of having to brainstorm another name again…. I am bad with names…

    Anyway, it feels good to have this over and done with now :-) And hopefully people like our new name.

      Another reason to love Scoopon …

      Scoopon are being sued by Groupon because they registered/"stole" Groupon's name in Australia, and now they're heavying you guys for trying to use a name that only rhymes with theirs!!!! $$$$$$$s.

      I've never used Scoopon … does this make me want to?

    Why did you pick morning?
    I did notice scoopon has a few other big domains, I think one was dailydeals.com.au, redirected. Cheeky or smart?
