Sony WF-1000X $229 in-Store and Free Delivery Online @ Addicted to Audio

110

Good headphones from reviews, I picked these over the B&O ones because of this price, otherwise would have got the B&O ones.

The guy in the Newtown store was super friendly and helpful.

Enjoy noise cancelling beyond compare, whenever and wherever life takes you and whatever you're doing.

Seems to review poorly in a lot of places. Do some reading before purchasing.

    • That's true. Main points why people didn't like them were the lack of capacitive buttons and also a dropout issue. I prefer the tactile buttons to the capacitive buttons, but if it drops out I'm returning them.

I have these and love them. They are the best gym headphones I've ever had (and I've gone through a few), even though they're not marketed as such.

I had the same reservations before buying them but most of the issues appear to have been resolved in firmware updates.

Was checking this out on the website and seems like there’s audio delay when watching YouTube

    • +1

Looked into purchasing these a while back and read about delay between the 2 sides - still hasn't been fixed by firmware to my knowledge.

      • Hey mate that's a good point. There are two separate issues, all true wireless headphones suffer from lag between YouTube video and audio. However, lag between the two earpieces is a dealbreaker. if mine experience this issue I will be returning them.

        • +1

Yeah I think they all suffer lag between the two sides as one is the master and the other is the slave in most cases - its only problematic when that lag is enough that it is noticeable by the wearer. I also find with the wired ones (where it is 2 sides wired together) that the wire isn't long enough to comfortably go around the back of my head. It seems there is no winning atm.

Never heard of this issue and certainly never experienced it in the few months of using these. This would indeed be ridiculous.

      • Yes, I got these recently. Useless for watching and listening due to the delay. Good for just listening.
BTW the delay is due to the left->right connection (the left is the one that connects to the audio source). No delay if using only the left one :-)
Furthermore it only runs about 3 hours (without noise cancelling) or 1 hour (with). When turned on they start in noise cancelling mode :-(
Finally, they do not sit firmly in the ear and will fall at times. I lost the left one this way (hiking through tall grass) and will never use earphones that do not have some connection between the two sides (even just a wire).

I bought a pair from JB then returned them , due to the known issue of intermittent Bluetooth connection drop outs.

    • Thanks for sharing your experience Frugal Fred. I will certainly be doing the same if that occurs with my pair.

That's interesting to hear, I've been using mine daily for the past 6 months with a Pixel 2 XL and I don't think I've ever experienced a drop out once. Can also confirm there is a lag when using the headphones to watch videos, however this seems to have disappeared to become less of an issue with the recent firmware update.

I have a pair - through my experience seems to only cut out when in places with a lot of wireless interference… like walking through middle of the CBD.

This was annoying enough that i don't want to wear them each weekday during commute to work. Which was a pity, as i did like the sound quality and the noise cancelling.

At home, out in a suburban street - it's fine.

But yes - a case of the buyer needing to do research and know about its limitations and issues.

      • As stated above, no issues using them at the gym either.

  • From their website "Item experiences audio delay when playing Youtube videos and maybe other video playback."

  • I was very close to buying these a year ago as the critic reviews are amazing. However user reviews on Sony and Amazon report major drop out issues.

I have since owned the WH-1000XM2 and WI-1000X and I find the WI-1000X a perfect blend of function and portability. While they won't work for the gym they are great for travelling and working at my desk as the neck band ends up being a perfect as you can just hang them around your neck when you're not using them but they are not as intrusive as our the ear headphones.

Noticed that you can get them touch cheaper at DWI for $195

They have it in gold for $197

    Cheers

    • Great price. The deal is for local stock through.

  • Get the Jabra Elite 65t. rated one of the best all-around TWE available. no lag, no dropouts, great fit, great sound. 5hrs playback.
not sure why people would pick B&O and Sony over it.

    • Noise cancelling I would assume. Every other brand is just a gimmick in that department.

      • I got a pair and the NC on the Sony is pretty much gimmick. a nicely fitted TWE would do just as much in the NC department.
do a simple search on reviews both youtube and on the Sony site. you'll see my experiences are not alone.
I'd rather get a Bose QC20 if I wanted proper NC IEM that lasts for 9hrs+.
