Tailor Made Suits - Bangkok or Locally

Hello Ozbargain,

Looking to purchase my first suit for graduation and future job offers. I'm planning to travel to Asia at the end of the year and thought might as well have a tailored suit made. The destination choices are Vietnam or Thailand but am leaning towards Thailand because of the weather in November. I've done some research and places like Ten on Tailor/Rajawongse charge 600 AUD for a tailored suit which is cheap but outside my budget range. Can anybody recommend any tailors that offer an above average quality suit for a cheaper price (300ish for a full two piece set) in Bangkok? Would love some experiences on purchasing tailored suits abroad + whether I'd be better off picking one off the shelf locally.

  • Bangkok, if you're there for long enough.

      Yume rong time

  • Heaps of tailors in Bangkok and Pattaya. They will pressure you to buy on the spot. You must haggle and be prepared to walk away if not satisfied. Never purchased myself.

If they want $600 on Sukhimvit next to soi 4 would mean the same suit would cost $200-250 anywhere else in thailand.
I'd go and bang sue from Nana then have a look around on the BTS

I buy from INdia. The wool and cotton is superior there.

    • Do you purchase online? I know my measurements and looking to purchase online.

      • Nah, I go there every now and again. I don't know of any quality online stores with international shipping.

  • I vaguely remember some posts here on Ozbargain that spoke about tailors in Aus that measure you up here and then send the measurement to <insert SE asian country> to make the suit and post it to you.

    and at a good price.

  • In Chiang Mai you can get a suit made for as low as 5000 baht, or roughly $200 or less. But it won't be wool. If you want wool then it will be almost double that.

  • It took less than 24 hours for me to get a tailor made suit done in Vietnam, including a fitting before they finalised the suit. Cheap and good quality. Would recommend.

  • We've been going to Pinky Tailors (http://www.pinkytailor.com) in bangkok for 10years and still wearing the shirts made 10years ago. They are 50m from the bts and is very convenient to get to.

We paid $100 a shirt for Egyptian cotton French cuff shirts. $120 for Italian cotton shirts. $100 for 100% wool pants. We haven't made a suit for a while but from memory they are around $300 for wool.

They have a huge range of fabrics spread across 3 levels in 2 stores from cotton blend to cashmere.

We've been to a few tailors in phuket and their workmanship and range can't compare to Pinky. The only one we like in phuket is Instyle Tailor (https://www.instyletailors.com). workmanship is good but they don't have a huge range of fabrics.

  • I was with a friend in Hoi An (Vietnam) and he had 2 auit jackets, 5 shirts, a few ties and belts etc made and all up was $450 USD. he did his research and went to a few stores to find the one he settled with. 3-4 figment and adjustment sessions and final result was 👍
We got shoes made as well after that - I thing like custom fitted shoes to be comfortable from day one.
