I'd definitely put my money on this tbh, much cheaper and has a TONNE of positive reviews.

Here's some of the replies on the kmart facebook group i'm a part of to the question "Has anyone gotten the air fryer? Are they worth it??"

"They are amazing apparently my aunty loves it and same with my eldest cousin she uses it all the time and they both keep telling me to get one lol"
"I have one and love it wish I had brought one sooner"
"yes definitely worth it. Bought one this week have used it everyday"
"Love ours well worth it and the price wasn’t to bad"
"Amazing we use it all the time"
"you'll love it, dinner is cooked in the time it takes to heat the oven"
"Best money ever spent on an appliance"
"I just bought it today, and holy fin sh*t balls, it’s amazing. Don’t know why I walked past it so many times"
"Yes definitely worth it.I have had one for about a month and don't know how I lived without one."
"It’s FRIGGIN AMAZING ! We use it constantly 1million % recommend"
"Omg its amazing I cooked a roast pork the other night and it the crackling was perfect! Meat was tender and my veggies were crispy!! We use our pretty much every night. So easy to clean too!"

      You get the picture :D

40 replies and not even one said they didn't love the thing.

It even has it's own facebook group

The fact they are so overwhelmingly positive is actually kind of suspicious. And the tone of the comments all seem like the kind of shit you see paid actors say in infomercials.

lol as an owner of one, I actually agree with these reviews.

@spy: As do I. Not easy to get as they sell out quickly.

        • They're a bunch of mums with legit looking accounts on a kmart facebook group.. no reason for them to lie :) i've seen plenty of people post negative reviews about other products they didn't like.

I picked out the longer more detailed comments, there was a bunch that were just "yep!" "love it!' etc as well.

I checked out a few threads with different questions relating to it and the worst reviews I saw were

"It's okay" and "Love it but it stopped working after 6 months" <:: they then replaced it under warranty

I actually bought one myself (I'm not a Kmart mum - I'm just an average bloke so no Kmart groupthink worship or bias here).

The device itself has been very good over the past few weeks I've been using it. The only thing is that you need to shake the basket from time to time to redistribute whatever you're cooking so that the stuff closest to the heating element does not burn. I believe a Tefal Acti-Fry has a stirring function which allows you to do this for better results with batches of small uniform foods like chips, but at a much higher price.

The fit and finish of the Kmart air fryer is really, really bloody good. I was surprised the first time I got it out of the box. It doesn't feel flimsy at all like most of their crappy own-brand products like their toasters and kettles. I've found myself regularly using it because it's almost as easy to use as a microwave. It has a touch panel (capacitive? I think?) which makes it easy to clean.

Foods do come out of this with a very even, all-over crispy texture that you get with deep frying, but you should keep in mind that air fryers are essentially convection ovens with a much more powerful fan blowing recirculated hot air (which is combined with vaporised cooking oil) over your food, so I tend to set the temperature/time as if I'm putting it in an oven (i.e. if you're cooking stuff from the freezer, follow convection oven instructions on the package)

Thanks for the review! I'm looking through the facebook recipe page I posted above and man, some of those pork roasts.. definitely making me want to buy one of these!

@Elision: I have both a Philips XL and the Kmart units (I sometimes cook two different things at the same time) and while the Philips one seems to cook more evenly, I find I use the KMart one more often as it is easier to clean the baskets.

  • Aldi have a 3litre digital one for $69 on the 13th

    • Love my Philips one but it is quite expensive.
Definitely should aim for the Aldi and Kmart versions.

  • Have a look at the kogan version with the removable rotisserie. The rotisserie enables so much more. Some people use it to roast coffee beans.

I thought this was a motorbike helmet at first

  • $149?? @ the Spencer street outlet (Vic) it was advertised for $99. Planning to pick it up as a house-warming gift.

    • My bad! the $99 one is a 3L whereas OP posted for the 10L

      • Do you have a picture of that mate? Is it the same product or something else altogether?
They had a Black and Rose gold 3.2L Smith and Nobel so I bought that instead when I returned this one.
