Lenovo ThinkPad E480 Laptop - Battery Drain Issue

I bought the Lenovo E480 in May and have been facing battery drain issues since then. Anyone has similar issues with this laptop model.

I got excited to see a good configuration from one of the deals here on OB and ordered online from Lenovo site.

The battery drains like crazy even when the laptop is shutdown.

Searched on google and found out that this is a common issue with these laptops due to BIOS version or something. Upgraded BIOS but no luck. Called the support team and sent the laptop to Lenovo service centre. They said that the battery was faulty and replaced it, but I feel that this issue is still happening.

Anyone here has experience in getting this fixed?

Thanks!

  • They said that the battery was faulty and replaced it, but I feel that this issue is still happening.

You feel it's still happening or it's actually still happening? Make sure it is still happening, I'd contact Lenovo again. It sounds they were okay with repairing the first time.

    • +1

I'm trying to get the battery report generated now. It tells you the battery drain trend for the past 3 days. Once I get it, I would know for sure.

  • Remember when you shut down the laptop, it only goes into sleep mode. You need to change your setting in power savings that when you shut down the laptop it actually turns off.

You can also just leave it on with screensaver running not plugged in and see how long it can last on battery alone.

Have you installed software on the laptop that could be draining it? Could have a virus/etc. too.

  • I was actually thinking about buying Lenovo laptops just a few weeks ago- Thank goodness I didn't because I bought an ASUS N580VD 16gb model.

which Harvey Norman has the 8Gb model for $1498 - https://www.harveynorman.com.au/asus-n580vd-dm555t-15-6-inch…

  • I have the ryzen model and haven't noticed this issue. Just had it running for about 8 hours on a relatively light workload (ended on 20%, then I threw it on charge).

Although I learnt the windows number for how long the battery will last is off by miles.
