So someone posted a deal where you spend $80usd and get $30usd cashback at booking.com. The deal was deleted for being a referral link but it still seems like a good deal, right? Should I go ahead and use it?

  • Its a great deal but was against the guidelines to posted as a deal as it was a referral, hence why it was removed. Go ahead and use it, it's a great discount on a small booking.

You can get $15-$32 AUD for using a referral in the OzBargain system. The US gets more, $30 USD and some other countries like Singapore get 10% back. Singapore I think is probably good value for big bookings. Obviously these all required that this be a new account.

EDIT: Also Twitter can provide you some links where you can find some higher amounts. Twitter

    • But the deal was for existing users.

All the referral links will show in the checkout. Looks like a recent bug. You won't get paid out if you're an existing user.

        • Really? It doesn't make that clear after clicking and looks like it would work.

Their page of terms and conditions is very hard to read and find out whether it is just for new users or not.

@watwatwat: It makes no sense to refer a friend to Booking.com if they already have an account.

            • @neil: Well if you click the link it doesn't even make any reference to the fact it is a refer a friend promotion.

              • @watwatwat: It does. It says "Earn AUD 25 cash reward
(And don't forget to thank (friends name)!)"

And if you click let's go, the T&Cs for Refer a friend are on the bottom right.

                • @neil: I think the average user clicks the link and it says earn money and thank the friend. Never says anything about new users. And fyi it's $30 USD not aud.

Then for the 0.01% of users who read the terms and conditions, the title says refer a friend promotion, but the terms remain unclear. Refer a friend to what… get good deal for existing users? Or maybe the refer a new user terms and conditions page shares with another promotion for existing users.

                  • @watwatwat: I'm just telling you what it does which is the same behaviour for non-logged in users.

Feel free to try it out and see if they'll pay you. Keep in mind with cashback and referrer links they put through the payment within a few weeks of your stay. Of course you can just create a new account (say for a partner) to get the referral.

You won't be able to combine Cashrewards/Shopback if you use referrals/cashback links unfortunately.

@watwatwat: OMG! As if anyone gives a referral bonus for referring an existing customer. It is common sense man!! You should take it up with Booking.com about their wording not being precise.

  • How do I use $30 USD cash back deal?

  • I have 1 night of accommodation left to book in the states and it would come in handy

  • On hotels.com you can refer yourself with a different email address and get US$50 off US$200 spend. Only works on US site.

  • booking.com are extremely strict with these referrals. it took me 5 emails back and forth over a few weeks and each time they said I did not qualify to refer a friend let alone receive a payment.
