  I have one of these devices and they work well providing you sharpen one side of the blade only. When sharpening cleavers you have to be very careful that the square ended blade does not cut you if you run off the end.

I wouldn't use this on good quality knives. There should be water involved in the sharpening process. As any good househusband knows

  Agreed. I've bought one of these off DX before. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's COMPLETELY useless, but I definitely wouldn't use it again. Just learn how to sharpen your knife properly with a stone, and keep it sharp with a honing iron.

that has a curved blade yah? bit more tricky sharpening that knife, it's only a 1 inch blade anyway
