AirFiber. Anyone Using It? Comments? Reviews?

Good morning OzB.

Yes, like many I am fast losing the NBN lottery. According to NBNco my address doesn't exist. And what was Jan-Jun 2018 is now not even going to be Jan-Jun 2020. So, time to look for alternatives.
Interestingly, I stumbled across W3Networks, which uses AirFiber. (see http://www.w3networks.com.au/)

My question… before I dive headfirst into this… does anyone have any experience with this? Is it reliable? Is a worthwhile alternative to NBN or shall I just sit here and curse my crappy ADSL connection for another God-knows-how-many-months?

This is after Turnbull got in claiming that 42 billion dollars was way too much to pay and then spent another 60 billion dollars, most of it going to Telstra, Australia's most expensive ISP with extensive government connections.

Way to go Australia, why don't you vote in another charlatan from the Liberal or Labour Party next time to let them know how much you like this, because Telstra loves your money.

    ADSL connection
I know you said ADSL, but not sure if it's ADSL or shortening ADSL2+.

If it is ADSL2+ and you've currently got decent speedyou're probably better off keeping that than going onto the lowest speed NBN plan (NBN12).

    • It's ADSL2+ and it's crappy. And the NBN12 plan is irrelevant as for the foreseeable future, there is no NBN available. Hence the search for an alternative.

      • I take it you're quite far from the exchange - What sort of speeds do you currently get with ADSL2+?

        • Not that far. I get about 10/1. The problem is the upload speed and stability. I work from home every now and then, the connection to AWS is shite. It is also ludicrous that in this day and age, I have to ask my kid not to watch something on Netflix, else I cannot work.

          • @Lord Fart Bucket: Yeh, that's a pretty low speed. Hope you find a solution soon.

          • @Lord Fart Bucket: apply QoS.. particularly on the upstream. Particularly with limited upstream speed, you have to make sure it doesn't congest.

    • I could live with that… I think. Sure, the weather has been crappy last 2 weeks, but it’s not often that bad.
