    Isn't that normally the case for these cloud storage facilities? You can still access your files via the web, but the local software is needed for the sync and encryption.

    I also note that they don't have a Linux client yet, so I'll be looking at alternatives like Dropbox and Spideroak which don't offer as much free storage, but in the short term I don't think I will need more than 2GB.

      There is several different methods, and seems several different names. i prefer the more tradtion mthod visit a website upload a link.

      I support many users who are locked down and the requirement for additional software means it cannot be used on multiple devices unless they support the software

    I don't mind the manager. It just automatically syncs your files and folder to your online storage. But you can also email files into your account. No manager needed.

      ie no install = no extra storage

  I used a similar thing once.
  I thought it was great.

  Then my files disappeared. It seems some sites delete your 'unused' files if nobody DL for a week or 2.

    That doesn't sound similar to this at all. I've used SugarSync for years, and never had an issue, and never had anyone download my files (and I'd be mightily pissed off if they were able to!).

    So it sounds like something completely different.

  Good review – there are a few recent changes as of June 2011:
  You get 5GB of space with the FREE version, but now there is no restriction to the number of computers you can sync/backup (up from 2).
  It gives you the ability to upload and sync any folder on your computer.
  It is the only service that offers such a broad device and OS support with apps for BlackBerry, Android, iPhone/iPad, Symbian, not to mention your computer!
