I need to get a new cable for my Ipad (it never f-ing ends once you stare down the apple rabbit hole). It is this lightning to camera cable which lets me connect a USB to Iphones/Ipads to download photos etc.
As usual, apple wants a whopping 49 bucks for it, whereas as off markets are going for as cheap as 6 bucks. What am I missing here!!
Any suggestions from seasoned apple people out there!!
Ohh boy, don't I wish. I would burn every single apple product in my house if only I could.

Another option is a Wifi SD card. Not great in terms of ease of transfer but handy for the very occasional transfer. (assuming your camera uses SD cards of course)
I have a Toshiba Flash Air.
I have been using the Kogan Apple MFI Certified Lightning to USB Cable (3m) for two years or so. They have a solid build and can be used to charge and for data sync. You can use these to transfer your photos. The extra length comes in handy.
get icloud or google photos and just upload it all, then delete off your ipad. While you're doing this, get one of the Blitzwolf braided cables from one of the many chinese sellers

I have loads of lightning cables and almost all of them give me the 'not charging' or 'incompatible' (or whatever it is) message.
I loathe Apple.
At 50 bucks a pop and almost useless warranty on those cables, Apple has a special place in hell for putting us through this shit every time.
Here is an update, I bought a 5 dollar cable on ebay, had it for two weeks, and it is perfect. So here I am saying it again aloud. (profanity) you Apple!!
