  • OP, do you have USB-C one?

    • there are ones with USB type C on ebay for $17

  • +3

Yes, but the usb c hub adapter is out of stock in the AU Amazon warehouse.

Here is the link for the usb c hub adapter.
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07B95HMN3

It is fulfilled by our seller currently, and will be in stock in our AU Amazon warehouse at the beginning of Nov.

Hope this info is helpful for you.

Wow that's expensive — can you do a deal for us OP? :)

  • I'm a bit new to computer hardware but what is the use of having multiple USB 3.0 ports all connected to one USB 3.0 port?

If we connect multiple USB 3.0 Hard disks to this hub and they all transfer data at the same time, the total data transfer into the computer would only be equivalent to one USB 3.0 right? (So each hard disk would be transferring at 33% of its normal speed?)

    • Each Hard disk is unlikely to saturate the full bandwidth of usb 3.0, so even with a few going there shouldn't be a bottleneck. In practice it's rare you'll be doing heavy read/writes off several disks at the same time, and even if you did they'd need to be SSDs to use up the full bandwidth.

Your concern in your case is more likely the power supply limit if your HUB doesn't have a external power connected.

    • Well for one it's very useful for peripherals. Like if your laptop has a faulty port you can buy one of these if you wish to hook up a keyboard & mouse and a USB at the same time. Also gives you ethernet which is useless for people like me since it won't make our ADSL2+ connection go much faster but those with insanely fast speeds would benefit greatly.

I bought something similar because I haven't had a PC for a few weeks and won't for another few so I want to hook up my laptop to my setup but one out of the two usb ports is broken.

These are great for expanding your usability of the Mi Box 3 as well.

    • Huh. Clever.

    • +1

Yep and can confirm that it will detect a wired connection of you have it connected.

    • Yep, grabbed one for my Mi Box 3 International a few months ago and it works perfectly.

  • OP would this be able to power a Chromecast gen 1 if connected to a TV?

Chromecast can be powered if connected directly to TV but would like to connect a couple of USB peripherals to TV…

    • I have one of these from Ugreen via Amazon US:

UGREEN Ethernet Adapter for Fire TV Stick (2nd GEN), All-New Fire TV (2017), Chromecast Ultra / 2/1 / Audio, Google Home Mini, Micro USB to RJ45 Ethernet Adapter with USB Power Supply Cable (3.3ft)

It is an excellent cable to connect an Amazon Fire TV stick or a Google Chromecast directly to the internet via a wired ethernet connection. Good for 4K video and/or if your wi-fi is too weak. Also great if you have a congested wi-fi.

It was listed on the Amazon AU web-site (ASIN code B01N1X28F1 ) until recenty for about A$17.00 and works a treat. Very easy to set up and connect despite naff instructiona. No drivers required.
