  • What if you've already pre-ordered it?

    • +4

      Cancel and reorder?

    • Since this is using a code, it won't be eligible for the pre-order price drop guarantee (ie. It won't automatically bill you $15 less)

Easy solution to this though; cancel your order and do it again, using APP15 this time.

Is there any point buying this without Nintendo Online?

    • +5

I don't think i ever played online on the wii u version. Played it so much locally with mates, and there is tonnes of single player content as well.
Nintendo has a pretty rocky history with online, especially smash, and if online matchmaking is the sole reason you want to buy this then I'd probably give it a pass.

      • +1

Never played Smash. I don't have many people to play local co-op with. Is it fun to play against AI?

If I have a friend with a Switch, can we play local multiplayer with each using their own switch?

        • +2

          Yes, and yes.

The AI was plenty hard for me (although I'm not claiming to be any good at smash, can adjust difficulty levels from 1-9) and there was tonnes of modes to play as well. I played single player mostly on the 3ds version and had a blast. I also was gifted an amiibo and that learns your patterns and can be really difficult to beat after some time.

3DS had local play, and I'm certain that ultimate has it too. Happy to be corrected though

          • @CaptainNewspeak: Thanks you've sold me

            • @cyrax83: Glad to hear it. I'd recommend looking at some of the single player modes on YouTube though. On a final note, id just say that a connection to some of the characters and playing with interested friends did make this game much more palatable for me. It's not for everyone, but for this price you can't go wrong (just sell it for cost on ebay if it's not for you)

    • You can connect to public servers using lan play

One of the games I've been thinking of getting for my kiddo. Damn new Switch replacement rumors have been putting my purchase on hold though!

    • +2

What rumours? And why would they affect buying this.

      • -4

Lot of rumours that Nintendo will release a refreshed model. Main rumoured features are better screen and improved battery life. As such it's a fair reason to hold off till at least Christmas period as surely they would aim to release a newer model by then rather than just after.

        • +5

It's very unlikely there will be a (new) switch before christmas. They have Pokemon go and all kinds of stuff and packs lined up between now and christmas. There's just no room.

Those rumors are to be taken with a heavy bit of salt.

          • +1

@superroach: His logic makes no sense - the game would be playable on both. They aren't going to release a new console - just update some hardware.

        • +1

I would strongly assume if a new switch model was released with a better screen and improved battery…. that every switch game would still work with the new version of the console… shouldn't affect your decision to buy the game (unless you literally don't have enough money to buy both the game and the imagined new console version)

        • +3

I work with Tegra chips every day. The TX2 is still too expensive for a product like the Switch (US$100 premium over TX1). So there’s no viable product in Nvidia’s roadmap to deliver better performance or more battery life.

I’m sure a TX2 Switch revision will come. But not for a long while unless Nintendo wants to release a premium version costing much more.

Nintendo is, however, changing its display vendor, so any refresh will likely be about that. It will probably have no external user-visible changes.

      • -2

Been thinking of getitng a Switch along with this game but there's been rumors swirling around that a new Switch might be forthcoming next year.

        • +6

I might hold off on buying the next rumoured model as the next next rumoured model might be out! Wait….this becomes a circular argument. Are we living in inception?

          • +1

@moo: Right? These thoughts are pointless. There have been rumours of a Switch refresh since it first came haha.

          • +1

@moo: Point taken. That's your decision to make — mine's based on the fact that the current model's about 1.5 years old — and the competition has had some refresh quite recently.

            • +1

@JaxSantiago: The thing is, from my experience with Nintendo consoles, it is more about the coop and playability rather than the latest technology. If you look at Wii, Wii U and Switch, they have always been generations behind technology wise.

              Enjoy the moment :)

              • +1

@moo: Agreed on coop — my fam has owned FamCom, Gameboy, DS and Wii previously.

However, rumors of better screen and better battery is reason enough for me to hold off buying.

                Cheers!

        • new hardware would probably introduce measures to stop jailbreaking. you'd prob still want one of these ones

    • Buy an exploitable switch now, and then sell it when the new one comes. Won't be this year pretty much guaranteed.

Edit: Buy an unpatched/exploitable serial console so that it won't drop in value by the time the revision comes.

      • 2nd hand? All new Switch are now patched?

        • I bought one from gamesmen last month that wasn't patched. But used is the safest route.

      • what is unpatched?

      • Please explain what you mean by exploitable? What version is.

    • New version will probably also be unhackable :(

  • Would shopback approve cash back as I can't see anything stating to not use Amazon app.

    • Unlikely if you're using a code that they aren't advertising

  • +2

You will only get charged when it is shipped right?

  • I get an error the promotional code you applied cannot be added to your purchase

  • Thanks! Cancelled my previous order and reordered :)

  • Order now it ends 1am tonighT. NOW.

  • Is there cash rewards for this? Or not possible due to being on the app?

    • You answered your own question.

    • Can do it on webpage, don't need to use the app. Code works for both

  • Can you get free expedited delivery with the 30 day Amazon Prime trial now or do you have to have Amazon Prime when the game is delivered? Also, when you cancel membership, do you lose it straight away or after the 30 days is up?

      1. Yes, you still will get expedited delivery. All that matters is to be a prime member when you place the order

      2. Feel free to cancel it immediately after you sign up, as it will still end after the 30-day period elapses.

  • Oh whoops. That was so fast. I went to sleep instead :/.

  • My daughter love this one!
