In cart payment - page refreshes - price increase

First post may as well be a whinge I guess.

I was about to purchase the Breville the Juice Fountain Cold XL from David Jones with a decidedly ozbargaining $358 (on sale, and a further 10% off special). I also was using some David Jones gift cards with the 10% discount from RACQ rewards (winning!)

I had entered my billing details, entered in the four gift cards (100, 100, 100, 50) and when I clicked on the "pay rest with a credit card" option, the page refreshed, the price now shows $404.10 and the gift cards I just entered were gone! WTF

So what can I do? This was at 11:05 when this happened (Brisbane time) so perhaps the systems kicked in new pricing at midnight daylight time? Can they do that? I've emailed DJ to see what they say, but anyone got ideas? The worst part is i now have $350 in gift cards at DJs where I never shop :|

    You obviously missed a sale. Best price now seems to be Bing Lee @ $381 for a price match

    As someone who recently used to work at DJs, I don't know why that happened, especially since the sale is supposed to end today (October 21) and not yesterday. The price I see is $449 before the extra 10% off (down from $469; some saving …)

    I can tell you though that there's no way you're going to get a response to your e-mail today and by the time you do, the sale will be over. Call them up on (02) 9266 6424 as soon as the phone lines open at 10 a.m. ADEST.

    This sound like the price changed before you completed the payment. Ask dj to issue four gift cards (100, 100, 100, 50).

  • Thanks everyone. I was hoping to get the price honoured but perhaps a dream too far.
    With the DJ gift cards it still gets the out-of-pocket to about $360, but the other $50 saving would've been epic.
    I'll still give the number a call at 10 to try my luck, so thanks for that.

      Almost there. Customer service said they'd honour the price via refund after the pick-up of the order (did click and collect). However, went to get the order from the store just now and they said they only had display stock and couldn't order in any others… cripes!

          End game is:
          * couldn't get the order changed to another store with stock or to delivery
          * eventually got a discount offered to take the floor stock, which online sorry said should've been the first thing offered
          * two physical visits to the store later picked up the juicer for $364
          Big thumbs up to the online customer support team. Big thumbs up to one customer support lady in store who had was a delight and helped organise the discount. And a big sigh to the other lady who I dealt with in person the first time who pretty much said it was my problem if I didn't want the floor stock.

          and thanks to those who responded here. Got me going on the right direction.

          Now to juice something!
