If you're going to get into the series I'd start with MGS1. Unfortunately, there's no modern way to play the game unless you have an old console. The game has not been remastered or ported because it's too old.
Or it might come to the mini PS Classic.
There is a Gamecube version of the game, but that's old too, and was never ported to newer consoles.
I am pretty sure PSN is selling it as a PS One Classic digital download that's playable on a PS3. Worth Checking out but yes the graphics are pretty dated.

I remember it not being included in the PS3 mega Collection which includes MGS2-4 and Peace Walker. Weird to have a collection that doesn't include the first game.
Ground Zeroes is a sort of practice game for The Phantom Pain but you can start at either one. GZ consists of one base with lots of missions whereas TPP is a much larger open open world with a storyline.
Not sure what Reveangence is.
From what I've heard, Metal Gear Rising is essentially weeb simulator 2001.

The GMG deal is supposed to be coming back. There were technical issues with key redemption in some regions. They are trying to sort it out, but it has been a while…
Plus, GMG is legit.
Thanks OP, I bought the GMG triple pack and was only sent keys for Revengeance and GZ. Contacted help and they said TPP was out of stock and there were no plans for a restock. Asked for a full refund and for the keys to be rescinded as the other two games were really nice-to-haves. GMG agreed, very good customer service.
