Hi, I am looking at getting an AC installed in the back bedroom cause the main one just doesn't reach it.
It won't be running very much so was thinking just need something small like a 2.5 kW. Anyone have any advice, should I wait around for a 20% off Good Guys sale and get one of the $650 ones then? Also anyone know what a reasonable cost for an installer on the Central Coast is?

Plenty of installers around that will install without trying to flog their own. Good guys can provide quotes but I found cheaper prices just ringing around.
Install cost is mostly dependent on you and your house. A back-to-back install on a single story weatherboard house with nearby electrical supply might be ~$600 whereas the cost of a of an elevated apartment install with difficult electrical access could be $1200. It really depends.
Agree on the $600 range.
Tho some will add extra for brackets for the unit, so worthwhile checking that upfront.
If you live in a humid environment then Look for one with a dehumidifier /dry air function. Not sure how north you are but (I'm in Brisbane) I found the dry function far more effective at providing a comfortable and cool environment than a "cooler". Plus it uses a third of the power (measured with a smart reader).
Get quotes direct from the Air Conditioning installers, they will be able to provide a competitive quote for supply and install.
Otherwise you'll have to pay someone for install only and I found that many do not install only.
