Stating the obvious for the price - SATA, not M.2.

For reference, those looking at this. Drives using the M.2 connector can EITHER use the SATA or much faster NMVe/PCIe interface.

In the case of this 860 both the traditional SATA and M.2 drive use the SATA interface.

You should state the correct thing then. M2 is a form factor, not a transfer interface. It's either NVMe/PCIe or SATA.

This is both M2 and SATA.

      • The comment is perfectly fine. M.2 and SATA can both refer to connectors which is what I assumed they meant.

        • -2

No, M2 is only a connector/form factor. It's not a transfer interface like SATA is. Although you're correct about SATA also being a connector. There's correct and then there's technically correct.

They've been this price for the last couple of weeks from a few places on ebay.

Buyers may want to make sure this comes with Assassin's Odyssey code.

  • If I was to buy this how much can I get for the Assassin's Odyssey code on eBay/Ozbargain?

    • +1

On OzBargain $30. On eBay maybe $50

      • Mine sold on ebay for $55 buy it now within 6 hours of posting

  • Why is mSATA always sold out? D:
I wish the remaining slot in my laptop was M.2, I'd rather not have to swap out my 2.5"; too much of a hassle to clone.

    • Because mSATA is a deprecated technology and no-one (or almost no-one) even produces it any more.

Just as a PSA, I sent a message on ebay asking if the 860 EVO is eligible for the AC: Odyssey redemption. Here's their reply:

Yes we are a listed store but as the recent demand of of the codes has been very popular we have ran out of stock for the codes and we have been trying to get into contact with the vendors to supply us with more code, if we are able to we will send our customers more codes but if not unfortunately we will not be able to anymore.

    So… maybe?

It says in the T&C on samsung's site, all purchases from participating sellers are eligible. It even says if you don't get a code for some reason, email [email protected] to get a code. https://www.samsung.com/au/offer/assassinscreed/

As someone above posted, I also sold my game code for $55 on ebay immediately, and combined with 10% off ebay gift cards so the total price for 1TB 860 EVO SSD was around $138. pretty happy with that!

  • Anyone emailed the address above and heard back? Shopping Express told me they're out of codes (sigh) so I emailed this R Chan guy. Been 4 days and nothing yet.

    • I sent an email on 31 October but had not heard anything back yet.
