What Is The Best Powerbank out There?

I am about to travel overseas for a couple of months.

I have a Pixel 2XL, partner has a nokia 8. We both use smartwatches too, pebble 2 and ticwatch S.

Want to buy a powerbank as my xiaomi 2c 20000 has crapped itself. Desirably want something that supports quick charge on the pixel 2 xl, but not necessary till it can charge the phone while the phone is in use. Doesn't even have to be as large as the 20000, a 10000 should also be enough (charge all the devices twice).

I can't seem to figure out what the best portable charger would be due to the amount of options. Please send opinions & links to which ones and why.

Anker power banks, reliable, great quality, good prices.

    • +1 for Anker.

Just note that they are a lot more expensive than other brands, and the range available in/to Australia is Limited.

    • This is the question. Do i need PD for quick charge?

      • Yes, pixels uses PD tech for "rapid charging", not "quick charge" tech.

After a bit of googling, i now understand the difference.
Shame none of those ones are on sale :(

  • I use the Xiaomi Pro 10,000 mAh, in fact we have five of them. I travel a lot so having lots of power banks makes life super easy.
    They're freaking amazing!

    • Is that the 2S? They come in around $22 so that's pretty good. Does this have USB-C output? Quick charge?

      • No, it is this one https://www.mi.com/sg/pb10000pro/

USB-C input to charge the power bank, Type-A output which charges my phone to full in about an hour or so.
It comes with a Type A to Micro and Type-C cable to charge your phone.
It's a pretty slim powerbank too.

I carry a single Type-C charger with me, which can charge either the phone or powerbank.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

There's the 2S and the Pro

        Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 2s

        • Has 2 USB Output Ports and a Micro-USB Input Port
        • Has Quick Charge 2.0 (Just note both port can be used at the same time, but only 1 port will deliver QC Voltages)

        Xiaomi Mi Power Bank Pro

        • Has 1 USB Port and a USB-C Input port (Note that you can't use the USB-C Port for Charging Devices)
        • Model PLM01ZM support QC2.0
        • Model PLM03ZM support QC3.0 and HiSilicon’s Fast Charging Protocol (benefit users who use Huawei phones that support FCP, such as the Huawei P9 and Mate 8).
  • I bought an Aukey 30,000.
Used it while i travel led and i think i got around 8-10 full Iphone charges out of it.

  • I think two perennial favourites are the Xiaomi ZMI above, and this Cygnett one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/402265

Options for Power Banks with USB-C PD are:

Not listed in any particular order.

Also note when you're travelling on air-planes with a Power Bank, not to exceed 100Wh

    To Calculate Wh:

    (mAh)/1000 x (V) = (Wh)

And try not to exceed 10000mAh if you're visiting China. The customs in the airports are iffy there from my experience and will sometimes confiscate them.

      • Nah, just india and singapore, so should be ok

    • This is amazing, thank you!

Now thinking maybe the Kogan one is a good option, if they start shipping on oct 31, it should be here before i leave…

      • +1

Just note that the Kogan one doesn't do Quick Charge, just USB-C PD.

EDIT: Which shouldn't be a problem for you, since you're charging the Google Pixel 2 XL and Nokia 8, which supports USB-C PD.

        • What an emotional roller coaster your comment has been haha

      • It's QC3.0. Doesn't seem to support Type-C Power Delivery, which is what you want, looking at what devices you own.

    • it's easier to remember to keep a single power bank to less than 27ah.

  • xiaomi 2c 20000

Personally I think the xiaomi 10,000mah is good enough. If you need more capacity, buy two instead of one large one. The power bank is only as good as you being willing to carry it around. You can carry one or both whenever you feel like it.

    • the 2S or the pro? do you use the PD technology? what are you charging with it?

  • i use an Anker powerbank.
    very good.

    • Thanks for this! might go the 15000mAh
