  I was disappointed. I mean it’s bright, but unrewarding. I prefer the flashlights with optics in the lens to make a completely consistent and perfectly round beam. This one has an old school reflectior which gives a hotspot in the middle and spillover.

    Optics like you're describing tend to be what smaller torches use to project the beam. The C8 design is for a budget thrower with a decent smooth reflector to enhance the throw. Nothing old school about it.
    Sounds like you're after something like ThorFire's VG15S or TK18 with orange peel texture reflector that smooths out the beam for more flood or maybe a small Olight.

  Anyone got recommendations for similar touch but has an adjustable beam? Twist the lens to go between Flood and spot?

    The advice most “flashlight enthusiasts” give is that zooming torches are generally crappy, and you should just buy a flood (like a Convoy S2+) and a throw like this one.

      Thanks. I've got this torch and the blf q8.

      After another single torch I can take out bush walking and be able to switch mid walk depending on the environment.

    has a square beam pattern when focused though. Yes im not a fan of those type of beam patterns either but oh well it was cheap
