Pokemon Let's Go: to Buy or Not to Buy?

Hi Everyone,

With the latest installment of the Pokemon series right around the corner I thought I'd post regarding its viability and long-term value.

I've heard a few things regarding this game.

Has it removed its general Pokemon battle encounters? Apparently you can only battle Trainers?

Can I not have a friend jump in my game with their Pokemon? Can I trade with them?

My trusty Scyther in Pokemon Go, can I transfer him over Day One?

Was hoping an avid Pokemon fan could help me out, thank you in advance!

  • the conclusion i've come to is if you liked pokemon go for at least a while then you'll like this.
If you are a pokemon fan but didn't like pokemon go then you won't like it.
If you played pokemon go when it came out and still play it then you'll probably love this.

yes the pokemon catching seems to be that you can see the pokemon in grass and there is no "battle" - there is a ball throw similar to pokemon go and there is some degree of skill (to be determined)

  • For the $59 preorder at JB me and the kids will got our money worth from it. I was unsure if I should get the Pikachu or Eevee version but on watching some gameplay looks like you can get both of those Pokemon anyway so not sure what the difference is between the games

    • I know for a fact there are some exclusive Pokemon only available either version. I chose the Pikachu edition as the Pokemon offered on the Eevee version I have in my Pokemon Go account.

  • They got rid of Gary OAK!!!!!!

Its a re-imaging of yellow so the game is going to be easy and you can only catch/transfer the first 151 plus meltan

The 151 master trainers seems ok

  • My trusty Scyther in Pokemon Go, can I transfer him over Day One?

You need to reach Fuchsia City before you have access to your Pokemon Go Pokemon, which is halfway through the game.

I wasn't persuaded to buy it when it was first announced but it doesn't look that bad and for $44, I should get my moneys worth.

  • +1

I was wondering the same thing. I feel like it's just going to be a watered down 5 year old's version of the game. No doubt I'll probably still buy it #pokemon4lyf

  • Does anyone know if the $29 Pokemon Let's Go trade-in deal w/ PS4, Switch or XBONE games is still on?

    • At EB? Yes, it's just Battlefield and Fallout have taken higher marketing spots for the promotion, but it is still on.

      • Sounds good. Would you have any idea if Drive Club, Far Cry 4, LittleBigPlanet 3 and Just Dance 2015 would qualify?
