    RRP $39.00

are you aware it is illegal to quote a RRP that is not the normal selling price for the item ????

    http://www.shopbot.com.au/m/?m=Nokia+BH-105&order=lh&p1=&p2=

    read :

    http://www.accc.gov.au/content/index.phtml/itemId/815334

A trader risks breaching the law if it:
*makes inaccurate or misleading price comparisons

Comparisons with the recommended retail price (RRP)
Advertising or promotions of 'savings' or 'discounts' on the RRP of goods and services are designed to convince you that you are getting a good deal because the price is less than the RRP.
If traders do not normally price their goods at the RRP, it may be misleading to give you the impression that they do.

Note: Comparison listed in this listing is based on Unique Mobiles selling Price.

      • +3

        Ohhh !!!
Maybe then you can bump up the Unique Mobile selling Price to $100 and claim to offer an even bigger Discount !!!

      • +3

I'm sorry uniquemobiles, this is the first post I'm going to neg.

RRP (which stands for [Manufacturers'] Recommended Retail Price) and "Unique Mobiles selling Price" are not the same thing, and I can't find any evidence of Nokia's RRP on this being anything but $29-35.

Appreciate you offering a deal, don't like the growing abuse of the term RRP. And I think the hidden charge on delivery (i.e. sure you can pay $5, but without additional insurance loss/damage is not our problem) is a bit misleading.

When you factor in true RRP and true delivery costs, the "deal" disappears for me.

Edit: Appreciate you updating the info, if that warrants me revoking my neg I hope others will let me know.

      Well done jv..
Its funny how everyones trying to sell you something comparing the RRP of when it was launched and not what the actual price is NOW…

      • +1

Exactly why the ACCC call it "misleading price comparisons" and it is illegal

        • Thats a pretty cool find, we'll have to do it to every vendor that try's to convince us how cheap it is…

I wouldnt neg on it alone, as the price may still be ok and Unique mobiles has said its 50% of there standard price (20 bux) so you can compare to that not just the RRP, think they have been pretty transperent.

HOWEVER, that said on there web price the price of 39 is crossed out and 10 is there <- this is the issue.

    How much shipping?

    • Hi Superforever, Apologies have just revised listing details - Shipping for the Promotion is $5 - This is Express Overnight Delivery

      • You should add shipping cost to the title. Looking at the title, I thought it was $10 shipped.

  • -1

Yea +2.75 Insurance. Website says while checkout - "Select a Shipping Option & Transit Insurance for full Cover, Customers who don't choose to take Transit Insurance will not be covered if the item is lost or damaged in Transit." - so Total Cost = $17.5 - Ripoff!!!

  • Noob question, can I also use this with my Galaxy S?

    • Yes sure this will work with any Bluetooth Handset.

Note we only have 75 pcs left as these are selling through quite quickly

$10 ebay - another option if you want to wait.

    • Considering Product from HK and delivery 5-20 Business days our deal is still looking quite competitive

  • +1

I see nothing wrong with a rep listing
    RRP - $
    Our Usual Price - $
    Sale Price - $

The only misleading thing is the figure for the RRP, as you can buy it on the Nokia website for $29.95. It is possible that the rep's supplier have not updated that info in their system so the rep believes the RRP quoted.

Still, $15 shipped is a good price.

    • +1

I see nothing wrong with a rep listing

you might not see any 'wrong', but it breaches the Trade Practices Act…

      • +1

I think you are misinterpreting what the act states. Listing a correct MSRP, or RRP is not illegal in any way shape or form. Giving the impression that this is the normal selling price your store sells for it is if you normally sell cheaper.

An example, in this case, if the store had said Normally $39.00, Sale $10.00 - SAVE $29.00; then this would be illegal - as the store ususally sells for $20.00.

Above, the rep has clearly stated half price, 50% off usual selling price, and also listed the RRP.

If you have a problem with the RRP attibuted to the product by the rep, then that is a totally different issue.

Not having a go at you jv, but believe me, you are wrong. What I wrote above is legal.

        • I've agree with you and given you a plus, however, as at the time of writing this, if you drill down have a look at their web site.

          Price: $39.00 - is crossed out….
          Now $10.00
giving the impression that its 29, so as per your definition ,its illegal…
the rep has admitted in there original post the normal price is 20 bux.. hence issue…(with web site, not this post)

  • I think it's a bit harsh negging it(unless info added after you negged him)

He has THEIR standard selling price on there. This promo is less than that, so it's a good deal!

Shipping is never free (you pay for it in the item price if they say free shipping) and $5 seems damn reasonable to me!

    • +1

it is important the the rep gets the pricing info right, because as previously stated, not only is it highly misleading but it is ILLEGAL to overstate the actual RRP. the neg was jusitified. perhaps a mod should comment.

      • +1

I'm keen to hear from a mod too - I'm the one who negged.

The rep's response to the RRP question was "Note: Comparison listed in this listing is based on Unique Mobiles selling Price."

But the title clearly says "HALF PRICE @ $10", so Unique Mobiles' regular selling price is $20. The seemingly-over-inflated $39 RRP referenced in the description still hasn't been explained.

      • +1

this thing sells for 35 bucks at OW, so RRP could actually be 39 bucks. checked staticice. lowest there seems 20 without shipping. so this seems like a genuine sale price.

        • mobileciti sells at $20 without shipping. the rrp quoted of $39 is also without shipping. yes, this is a good price but the RRP quoted should still be changed. why has this not been done?

  • -1

will only buy if it was with free shipping!!!

Can rep offer free shipping? if yes, this deal is all set to be a super duper hit!

    • Hi Immumo, I would love to however I am not able to offer free shipping as we have already discounted shipping by $9.80 and stock is selling out quite quickly.

      • hmm ok, no worries. thanks for the reply, just bought one. will it reach me by tomo?? cheers rep.

        • Hi, Great. Yes we have quite a few to get out but will try our best to dispatch all today :)

      • Hi rep, did mine go out today? Can I expect it tomo? I'm within Sydney city limits.
