StarHub Data Plans Have Increased in Price

I posted this as a comment here but thought it was worthy of its own post as I feel there are quite a number of us that use this here.

Copy and paste of my comment:

Some slightly negative news…

The data packages have increased in price slightly, as of 17 Oct 2018

The data packages are now:

3 Day Options
  • $2 - 30MB
  • $6 - 1GB
7 Day Options
  • $8 - 1GB
30 Day Options
  • $11 - 1GB
  • $18 - 3GB
  • $25 - 5GB

This has eliminated the previous useful hack of being able to stack a 3 day 10MB $1 and 7 day 1GB $5 data pack for a total cost of $6 for 10 days and 1GB (+ 10MB) of data.

In summary, data costs are now higher and they've tried to offset this loss by including free "unlimited" outgoing local calls in Singapore only - which most of us here won't care about.

For the volume of countries it includes, it is still probably the best option.

In all fairness, these prices are still reasonable. Just sad because we were spoilt with the better prices for a while.

In other news, it seems the UK is no longer one of the Happy Roam countries? Pretty sure it was previously!

Might be time to consider Pokefi which I've actually now started using and have a bit to share about it. The only country that StarHub covers that Pokefi doesn't is New Zealand.

Will write a little bit about it when I have time.

  • Yes, the prices updated without any prewarning (happened whilst I was overseas! I logged on and noted the different prices but did not investigate until now).
So for 10 days it would cost $10 for 1.03gb.
Anything longer then ur best to go for 30 days $11?

  • Still my preferred sim card. Even at $5/GB for 30 days (5gb plan), it's worth the little extra rather than mucking around with local sims - touching down on the tarmac and knowing you have service is worth the few extra bucks.

Have had to give a bit of thought to keep them active though - reminders to top up are set!

  • Love my Starhub prepaid too! The best!

  • Can the expiry period be combined ?

    i.e. if I purchase $11 - 1GB for 30 days and need another 1GB, can I just add $6 so I get 2GB for a combined of 33 days ?

    • Unless they've recently changed something, the answer is yes you can.

However, for an extra $1 ($18 instead of $11 + $6), you can get the 3GB Happy Roam data plan (extra 1GB).
