I had a swig of this while playing RDR2 last night, was freaking epic. I find you have to be in the mood for this guy being very strong and peaty, but when you are in the mood man is it good

      • Ya its real good

      • +1

Agreed, this and the Ardbeg 10 are two of my favourites.

    • +2

I think it's not very kind to have it with Coke.

When friend first introduced to us a couple of years ago, I too find it too peaty.
But then "smooth" whisky are too easy to drink and I finish them too quickly
So this one is a good alternative.

      • Lol, I have the same reaction to whisky's I don't like, I don't finish them quickly :D
        Way too peaty for me.

        • Yea I all my first whiskies were easy to drink and generally light. As I got more into it I tried different ones, and found I love peat. Having tried many including octomore's range (much more peaty), I find this to still be heavy peat, but when I feel like it, this this tastes amazing.

Luckily there are whiskies for all different tastes!

  • It's peatyful

  • Is the spend $40, save $10 a generic promo on all Woolworths receipts?

    • Just went and bought something at Woolies, the receipt didn't have that printed.

    • It's not.. You have to activate it in your emails.

      • Could these emails be targeted?

        • Generally, they are.. But its a cast majority.

But this product usually on rewards card offer.. On the ticket it will say get this product cheaper with rewards card/

    Thanks OP.

For those of you who do not have the Receipt rewards, I've just called Dan Murphy to price beat this website (https://www.masterofmalt.com/whiskies/lagavulin/lagavulin-16…) - $82 add $6.90 delivery fee, for a total cost of $88.90.

    • Isn't that website from the UK? haha

    • But don't they have to match the postage as well? Which would be $39.

      • Also alcohol import duty, I believe.

      • The guy was kind enough to price beat it for me. He said he could only do it if it was delivered (given that the website is delivery only) and I wouldn’t be able to get a price beat in store.

    My favorite ! Drooling now

Pretty sure this was down to $94.99 on boozebud a few days ago (someone probably asked them for a price match too).

Boozebud is great, because of their $25 sign up bonus (min order $100) and 7% cashrewards.

    • Says 15% on new orders now. Was the 25 bucks off advertised on the site or via email?

      • Seems to be an on-going deal: https://www.boozebud.com/promotions

I see it in the top middle tile.

Thanks champ! Just got 3 cases of Coopers green for 98 bucks. Bargain!

          • @ozbjunkie: What's coopers green?

            • @salmon123: Beer, pale ale. Usually $46 to $52 a case.

              • @ozbjunkie: Ah - I get it … you stacked the 10% off 3 cases with the $25 sign up bonus.

Should've gotten cashrewards too … another $6-7 saving.

        • nice, notice their glenfiddich 18 is back in stock. $75 bargain :)

          • @jonske: Yeah - I think they've price matched it with Nick/gooddrop - both have it for $99 regularly. But you need a $1 filler - plenty of mixers on their website.

  • Is it wasteful if I mix this with soda water?

    • +6

Not at all. Add some Ribena while you're at it.

      • +1

        This kills the whisky.

        • but im too much of a puuusssyto take it straight !!

          • +1

@50cent: Start with a bit of water and ice, then work back to straight slowly. Don't drink whiskies like this if you find it too strong. I started on sweet light whiskies with lots of ice, now I love drinking them straight, sometimes with a single small ice cube depending on weather.

    • +1

Its not wasteful if you enjoy it. You're not drinking whisky for the health benefits, so just do what you enjoy. The question is would you enjoy it as much as a cheaper bottle mixed with soda water?

That said, slightly diluting whisky can make it taste better (proven scientifically) depending on ethanol concentration. All about managing the guaiacol concentration at the air-liquid interface (the place you'll drink and smell it) so that its at a concentration you enjoy.

  • +2

One of the best I've had. Tried other smoky, peaty ones but this one stands out!!

  • So, discounted alcohol at $142.9 per litre?

    • +1

Still cheaper than current petrol prices

    • Buy what you can afford to enjoy.

  • Its artificially coloured . Why do they do this? It's good value for what it is if you're into extreme peatyness

This was very hard to drink, the smell somehow reminds me of hospital smell / cough medicine. Had to threw it down the sink..
