TRS Refund with a Different Name on Shipping Name and Address

Hi,

Is it possible for me to claim a purchase from TRS if I paid for it, but had to ship the item to my Partner’s name and work address? Do TRS agents go off billing details?

I’ve googled a few tries and came up with nothing definite so I thought I’d asked experienced members here.

Name on tax invoice needs to match name on passport

^This, if it's in you partners name they will deny the refund. And yes they do check. They even denied me one time because I sent it to my office c/o my name. That was enough even though it was clearly a personal purchase not a business one.

They only check name if the purchase is over $1,000.

      Otherwise, you're accurate.

      • they do check, they only are fine with under 1000 invoices with no names and addresses.

If the name and address are highly visible, they will have to match the travelling person.

        • My mistake. Speed read. Thought the question is if a receipt with name and address is required for purchase under $1,000.

  • Hmm I think if it's billed to you and its listed in the invoice should be fine.
I was in a similar spot but for me they listed both my name and the person recieving it as biller and shipper. SO two names on the invoice but TRS just approved it (it was over $1K).

I haven’t ever done it for something that is over $1000 but for any TRS refund you need your name to match your boarding pass and passport.

It can’t be in your partners name if they aren’t coming with you.

If the purchase is over $1000 it needs your address as well. If you have a invoice with shipped to: and billed to: that might be alright. Not sure if they check.
