Men's Bike from Anaconda

Please help I have no idea about bikes but I’m not wanting to spend too much as it’s a present for someone who I don’t know if they are keen on getting into riding. I want to stay below the three hundred mark. It will most likely be used on paths. Is this a good bike or can anyone suggest something else around this price mark. https://www.anacondastores.com/cycling/bikes/urban-bikes/flu…

It looks like a reasonable generic hybrid, but bikes are very personal things, and if you are not sure if the recipient will actually ride it, maybe take them along for a fitting etc. to gauge their interest.
If they are not too engaged, there are plenty of other things at Anaconda that might suit?

    • Than you.

  • Aside from the suspension forks, that will be next to useless, it seems OK value. Don't expect too much from a $300 bike, but general path riding should be OK. You might be better going for a version that has v-brakes (rim brakes) as these can be more effective than cheap disc brakes, but again, for general path riding it should be fine.

Note that anaconda tend to inflate their RRP for bikes beyond thier worth, so that the sale price is often a more true representation of the value.

For a $300 budget you can get quite good second hand bikes, but it really pays to know what you are buying.

Why would you buy a bike for someone if you don't know if they like riding?

    • Good point. I missed that in the OP. Only ever buy a cheap bike for yourself, it might turn into a garden ornament if it is not what they want, especially as there are so many styles of bike to choose from there is a good chance it wont suit the riding they MIGHT want to do.

      • I'm not sure I like Champagne. OP would you please get me some so I can see if I like it please :)

    • This.

Get intended person some cash instead would definitely be my advice, otherwise bike likely to end up just another non-recycled addition to land fill?

    • I was hoping they might get into it. Plus I’m out of ideas for a present.

      • The most important thing with a bike is fit. You should not rewlly but without trying for size. Take your friend to the shop and get them to try before buying.
