I just tried to order. I found that you have to add $1.39 for paypal or credit cards.
So cancel it. will Preorder from Umart if it does not charge me extra.

    addit
Just pre-order from Umart, will pay by cash when pick up locally. No extra fee. $139

    • But do you get the free game still?

    • +1

Your pay rate is really high…

$139 and not including delivery at Umart versus $139+$1.39 including delivery at CC, can always pickup at CC and avoid the $1.39 if it really means that much to you.

Personally, my time and petrol is significantly more valuable than the $1.39 extra to have it shipped to my door.. but each to their own.

I agree with you. The CC Surcharge, if not opposed, will only get higher as more and more people get on with their stockholm syndrome with CC Surcharging.

      • It's a real cost. No one is giving for free.

I'd rather those who use it pays, instead of all.

        Sometimes I use, sometimes I don't.

  • Question guys. If i purchase one of these, do they work with most current motherboards. I'm looking at building a gaming desktop in the next few months. I am just not sure if it works with all of them.

    • You need to check the specific motherboard you plan to buy. It needs to support booting from NVME.

    • you should be fine with most modern motherboards, especially if they have an m.2 slot built in.

      https://www.umart.com.au/MSI-Z370-Gaming-Pro-Carbon-LGA-1151…

this one is almost identical to mine for reference (i have the z270). I installed the 970 evo in yesterday and works perfectly.

      Yes.
Almost all current mobos have the necessary NVMe M.2 port (and will always be boot-able). Many boards have more than one even.

      Just as a quick FYI:
      1. M.2 is the physical connecting port - different to SATA that is common. Current Gen motherboards will have a combination of SATA and M.2 ports.

      1. NVMe is the drive communication technology - different to AHCI that is common (though normally not mentioned). NVMe drives use the PCIexpress pathways on your motherboard which are much faster.

So, it is possible to buy M.2 AHCI SSDs, but they're generally much slower than M.2 NVMe SSDs and mostly only laptops used these.

So just to be clear, the motherboard you buy should list "M.2 NVMe" on the specifications. Or sometimes "M.2 PCIe Gen3 x4" or "M.2 PCIexpress Gen3 x4" or some combination like "NVMe PCIe Gen3 M.2".
Make sure the SSD is NVMe (like this Samsung model is).

To add more confusion, SSDs that use the M.2 physical connector also come in different lengths, this will often be specified in the different lengths 2242, 2260, 2280, 22110. As long as you buy a consumer SSD you generally shouldn't need to worry about this though.

      • Instead of AHCI shouldn't you be saying g SATA? Since it's m2 Sata vs m2 nvme…

AHCI as you say is the communication protocol, which isn't really the physical connection mechanism…

(I wish they didn't (profanity) up the m2 standard the way they did, things a (profanity) mess with the different keying options)

  • 1Tb needs to come down by $39.

  • +1

I was thinking of upgrading from 250GB to 1TB and although it's a good price but the speed at which the SSD prices are going down makes me wait more.

  • PCCG is matching at least the 2TB price… Shopping-express-clearance ebay is selling 2TB version for 629 after PEARTREE discount. Mind you, I have no idea if any of them include the game code. Nearly pulled the plug, but I saw Tech Jesus put up a news video saying memory price is projected to come down as low as 8c/GB…. so maybe USD500/4TB SATA drives are on the horizon? Current cheapest is AUD1055/4TB after the same discount.

    Bought 2 X 2TB ones. What great value! 3.4 GB/second read speed. Can't wait.

    • Just tested mu 500gb one and got 2.9GB/s read speed. I guess that's good enough ;)

Soon they will be throwing in a M.2 NVMe SSD when you buy a AAA game title.

  • Can you get cashback on these?
