Warcraft III Reforged (Warcraft 3 Remaster) - Disappointed and Underwhelmed

So went to claim my free Destiny 2 and saw something new and interesting.

There was a shiny new Warcraft III Logo on the Blizzard Desktop app and so I thought oh wow finally they put the classic Warcraft 3 game within the app instead of a standalone launcher.

Nope it was worse than I thought.

Ok before I continue I just want to say I am thankful for Blizzard actually trying this but I mean from what I am seeing as of right now I am a bit wary. This will most likely be unpopular opinion but still here goes.

So Blizzard is releasing a new Warcraft III (Warcraft III Reforged to be exact) and the first few gameplay and campaign trailers look nice but is it nice enough?

While I am super excited for this announcement and news of this upon looking at the gameplay and campaign trailers I am kind of disappointed and underwhelmed. Yes it is something new so I should be happy for it and I am but honestly long term wise I don't see this making much of an impact on current Warcraft fans far and wide. It is like how World of Warcraft still looks very much like the same game it was when it released in 2004 14 years ago.

This game does look better and I am praying for 4k support and other goodies like with the Age of Empires Definitive Edition upgrade but apart from that it does not look that major. Knowing how things work the chance of a second graphical upgrade is slim to none and a revamp expansion seems pretty much impossible at this point and nonexistent. Looks like we will need to pray for an independent community side project to really create this masterpiece that Warcraft III deserves.

I personally will still play the Reforged version but man I just wish this announcement made me wanna go out and upgrade my PC and go crazy tell all my friends about it but honestly it just does not.

Is it just me what are your guys thoughts on the new Warcraft III Reforged announcement?

Looks like Standard Edition is $44.95 AUD / Spoils of War Edition $59.95 AUD / Spoils of War + Virtual Ticket $115.95 AUD

Personally would not want to pay more than $30 AUD for a remaster but it is Warcraft III even though it does not look like the game that I have really wanted all those years ago.. looks like I will just have to keep on praying for a true Warcraft III Remaster.. maybe the 40 year anniversary edition? Please Blizz.

    Thanks. I noticed that too, but the shop tab is blank for me.

    I was wondering what part the Hearthstone card on the image was and was hoping for some RTS + CCG hybrid madness, but it turns out it's just a card cover for Hearthstone when you buy :(

    douchebags need to give us WC4 - why would people want to play some modernised shit for $40? it's ridiculous. then again, it's the retard consumers who choose to validate blizzard's lazy, unimaginative efforts by buying this shit.

      Nothing new.. very sad.. do they really have nobody at blizzard that wants to make games anymore? Or have they gone down the aesthetics only route.

    I am a very excited that they are launching the remastered version. I mean its not ThAT good but its not that bad either. I hope they have a decent price tag for it.

    This article features the interview with the game creators and this time, they actually listen to the fans.
    After seeing the trailers and some of the artwork, I did go crazy planning to upgrade my pc to 4K just for this game, yes the game will be 4K compatible. WC3 is my childhood and i'm still playing it with my friends (xhero and TD maps) now and we are in our 30's haha. This is not just a skin remaster, they are planning to redo down to the code and carry the story forward to catch up with the narrative in WoW. And they also combine Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne into one package. I mean fkkk yeahhh.

    As usual, don't pre-purchase, wait until game is released. Let's not have another mass effect andromeda lol

      We can only hope. In a perfect world they would have easily added all warcraft races and maybe even alternate game styles with a totally different unit and building and upgrade tech tree.

      I am all for remaster but would be nice to get a new game also not just side grades.

        Totally understand your feeling, I also want WC4, but it is unlikely due to WoW storyline. Oh well, this remaster is way better than Diablo on mobile phone (felt so sorry for Diablo fan). Who knows, if this remaster did well then they might ride the wave with WC4.

        Races are interesting, it's hard to balance a game with more races, I hope it's as smooth as SC2!

        I wonder if they'll maintain 4 races or add additional races

          Well honestly I hope the current blizzard team gets replaced because it seems like they are out of luck or something.

          The magic just isn't there anymore.

          I am sure there are members in the community that could do it justice but copyright and legal whatnot is stopping them from doing anything at all.

    Is it just more skins for the spoil of war edition? Is the version they are selling now has all the updates and resolved some of the complaints? Do they sell them for special price on boxing day or new years day?
