Corgi Puppies available any time soon

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a corgi and for how much or know any legit breeder? We have been so closed to being scammed and have been searching desperately for the last couple of months :(

To get those Instagram likes? Get a rescue

  • The only thing to keep in mind is that Corgis were bred as cattle dogs so they do have a tendency to nip. I agree that you need to go to the relevant kennel clubs and find an established breeder. The cost of the animal pales into insignificance when you take into account the upkeep costs. The breeder may well insist the animal be desexed before you get it.

Don't worry, the premier is early next year. You still have some time.

Find a rescue associated with the breed you want and be patient. A quick google came up with https://www.facebook.com/corgirescueau/

Legit breeders are very cliquey about who they give dogs to, and there are a lot of pretend breeders that are puppy farms or scams.

    Under W - Welsh Corgi.

Then decide if you want a Cardigan or Pembroke.

Pembrokes are friendlier and have docked tails. All the corgis Ive met at dog parks have been Pembrokes. This is probably the corgi you are after.

Cardigans are better watch dogs and don't have docked tails.

It is no longer a practice nor is it legal to dock tails in Australia. Has not been for almost 10 years now. Pembroke will come with normal tails as well.

      • Agreed with RyanMK - docking is illegal - my pembroke corgi has a very nice fluffy tail :)

        • Cool. No docked tails for any breed then.

I love the look of Corgis that still have their tails - they are really gorgeous and look so happy with their tails wagging.

          • @try2bhelpful: Agreed. Why would anyone want a dog without a tail?

            • @chichi: People can be very odd. Maybe to do with cattle dog origins? They really need to change the breed characteristics of some pre breeds too, to remove the worst defects. I love pugs but the cross breeds with a longer nose are better.

      +1 to this. and dogzonline.

Also if you meet a corgi and their owner in the street or at the park most will be happy to chat (this applies to dog owners in general) and ask which breeder they went to.

Though I'd like to add my vote to looking for a rescue. (That corgi rescue facebook page posted above seems to be dead)

  • i got my corgi from https://www.dogzonline.com.au/

perseverance - it took me 1 year

i also did a lot of cold calling - random emails to keep up to date :)

  • i cant vouch for this breeder but heres something that is available:
