Buy RAV4 Side Mirror and Do Something about a Scratch

So I am not very good at parking my car yet. Now I have to buy a glass for the right side mirror.

There is also a scratch on the body where the paint has gone off at a very small location and the metal is revealing. I want to do something about it too.

I live in Brisbane. I see I can buy a glass for the mirror online from ebay for like $20. I'd rather if I can buy it from a shop or a wrecking place.

I am not a local or knows a lot of cars. So any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hope this is the first and last time!

Go the wreckers if you can - it's better to get one that's designed for your car (than a generic one). If you're lucky, you might even be able to replace the whole mirror for a cheap price.

Use touch up paint to cover up the metal bit. The touch up paint isn't necessarily just cosmetic. It'll also help prevent rust over time.

    • Thanks a lot for your advice. I was thinking of going to a mechanic and ask about the paint.

I certainly plan to take more care parking and driving in general.

  • Are you sure it’s metal on the mirror? I don’t think I’ve seen a metal mirror on a car built since before the 80s

    • no, it is a scratch on the body revealing the metal underneath the paint. (the glass of the side mirror gone too).

      • Fair enough. I thought most modern mirrors were a plastic body, not metal.
